Total spent so far £500, with contingent liability of £70 for transport and maybe £40 ish for MoT.

Money received so far £675 (I include my £50 in that total) - many thanks.

Apols, I, have not yet reviewed all the PMs to ID the wannabe Groupists - some tedious reality stuff has intruded.  I will do tomorrow if reality permits.

NB, I am working on the basis that if when you send money you do not say that you want a share in the car, then you don't want a share in the car.  I reckon that there are about 4 or 5 people who actually want shares.  They can form a group, or argue among themselves whether someone gets the car for keeps.  I reiterate that I do not want a share in the car.   I will offer some free advice on how to structure a group agreement, whether written or otherwise, so as to avoid arguments.  Civilised give and take goes a long way to prevent strife.

If the car comes to be sold, I hope that the owner or owners will advertise it here and also on the BX Club UK Facebook Group.

For the time being, the car will be located near Wigan.    Whether it makes it to Shitefest is anyone's guess.

Whether it makes it to the 2nd of June is anyone's guess.

FTFY. Here's hoping though. Good effort all round.

Beige car on ORANGE truck.  Can there be more joy in all the World?

Beigeness and baseness of car make it look SMOLL.  Usually a BX looks MIDJUM.  But SMOLL is best.

A more miserable, detestable piece of shit you couldn't hope to avoid buy.

*Wipes solitary tear of pride.

It really is extremely beige, the full scope of its beigeiosity has only been revealed by daylight. The strobe stripes on the C pillar are an eighties automotive amuse bouche par excellence. Très bien.

Superb! The exact beigeyness of the forum too. Perfect!

I had to alter the contrast settings before I could even see it!

Whats gonna happen with this then, who gets to bomb about in it?

Posted

Why would you want to destroy it to turn it into an art installation, when it is already clearly art?

Posted

At the moment it will live in my lock up.

Next steps: give it a once over, if nothing obvious crops up take it for MOT to get a list of jobs to do.

Once with ticket, owners will have to decide what next.

Previous owner indicated that the battery doesn't hold charge...

I've found some photos from a few years back when the owner before the last one got it.

I think that approx 10 of the mug punters,  discerning connoisseurs of fine French motoring BDSM pain gimps are keen to be owners.  Frankly, nipple clamps would be more fun, but, hey.

I will sift through the approx 97 trillion PMs about this and get there eventually.   stillOrange is about to be the owner pro tem, I think, but others have dibs on shares too. Not me!

You could probably make back about 50% of the purchase price just by selling the tailblazer that's on the back.

The most important check will be to remove the inspection panels either side of the rear seat to check if the rear subframe mounts are rusted through. If they are it can be mega expenditure to have them welded back to health.

Include me on the 'potential' interests BV - maybe just everyone interested post here and get a list to save BV the PM admin?

This being a benign dictatorship that consults its citizens on important stuff (eg: should the executions of journalists take place in the main Square, or just on TV?), I am minded to take a consultative but fundamentally non-democratic decision and say that the books for owners are now closed.  Shifting metaphors as clunkily as a BX gearchange, no one gets his button until the Five Families reopen the books, and that may not happen until there has been another mattress war.  No, I don't mean the tramp-jizzed mattress that Cavcraft uses as a back seat in his latest sixty quid Peugeot.

Anyone who still wants to help fund the repairs etc to someone else's frankly appalling car is warmly encouraged to do so!   Paypal me ALL your money, and I will send it on to stillOrange, or use it to buy more motorbikes, as the fancy takes me.

I say that because maybe about 10 people have said they want a share.  Most of the funders have said NO to a share in various emphatic and frankly quite sweary ways.

I suggest that all those who have thus far (1) put in cash and asked for a share, or  (2) put in cash but not yet said whether they want a share should be able to have a share.  Lovely people who come afterwards and want to lob cash please do, but we can't go on diluting the beige until it reaches homeopathic quantities, as then it will turn into taupe, and that would never do.

Sounds sensible. I think I'm on list (1) anyway.

My soon to be with someone else blue BX had an issue with battery charge too and then melted part of its wiring loom whilst out on a drive....So just be warned. A few people suggested that could mean a duff ignition coil.

The car arrived.

I stupidly assumed that the guy with the transporter/recovery truck will have jump cables. He didn't. Huffing and puffing and pushing began.

We managed to get it into the lock up.

The car itself. Damn it's beige, it will be even more once thick layer of dust is removed. It seems to be in relatively good nick. The only rust spots I could see are on doors on drivers side.

I'll try to get back to the garage tomorrow after work just to start it up and have a proper look around.

Excellent. The colour coordination with the truck is almost too much.

I agree about the tailblazer. It looks utterly shit on this thing. Flog it, add the funds to the pot. If it isn't cracked, it'll fetch surprising coin.
