I sort of accidentally bought a car today

Hello, I suppose this should be a collection thread, but the car came from three miles away.

Which means there also isn't a pez shot, as it had a quarter of a tank in it, and was three miles away (I did collect it from a petrol station though).

Anyway it's quite crusty and grim, slow, doesn't lock, and will suffice for a cheap car to park in a public car park when I go to a four day meeting at Blackpool at the end of the month.  And not really care about too much.  Or at all.

I didn't even mean to buy it, it just happened.  Anyone care to guess what it is?  (JohnK knows already).

Blimey fella, you posted that fairly late on a Sunday night and expected loads of responses? Skoda Felicia as a guess

Well they fit the description perfectly, as many have kippered door locks and shedloads of rust

Yeah, I forget nobody really stays up as late as me.  I'm pretty much nocturnal as my past deeds keep me awake.

No, it's not a Fellatio.

Using the parameters you have provided, the perfect match would be a Ford Ka.

You have my condolences.

Polo Diesel saloon. Lowered on 3 coilovers and soot stains all over the rear bumper.

Pride?

Blackpool at the end of the month.

Nah, all pride turns to a sense of despair as you progress along the M55.

It's best viewed from a distance.

W reg Micra 1.0 16v (careful now) Celebration.  7 and a half months test, 100 pounds, thank you please.

£100 for a set of wheels with 7 months ticket, proper bangernomics is that.

I'm not entirely sure it will provide enough excitement for the journey home from Balckpool to get you through a four day meeting.

Assuming it hasn't been nicked by then, it is going to cost almost that in parking charges isn't it.  Unless it gets nicked on day one and parked in a car park for four days before it is found.

If it stands a chance of getting through another test, I could see this becoming an Autoshite bike

It's Ideal for delivering takeaways in but I really couldn't think of anyway to have cheaper more reliable motoring for the next 7 months unless you start getting attached to it then spending money on wings etc.

Well bought, they're are firmly in the 'stupidly cheap' bracket these days and are a decent little car, mechanically wise.

The main thing I'll be worrying about if it does get nicked is how the buggery I'll get home (especially as the last day of my meeting is my birthday and I'll be wanting some cake), oh realised it does lock from the inside, just requires a bit of planning.

I woke up this morning and it was looking at me, like a pet.  This is a worry as I get attached to cars and have been known to talk to them.  I wanted to have it as  no fucks given transport and over the rainbow bridge when the MOT expired/it exploded.

I'm going to get attached aren't I?

This will get through another MOT I reckon Rich

You may be the one getting it through that MOT!

Great little things these. Absolutely love 'em.

Jesus wept - thats grim.

Not in the depressingly horrible sense, just dull as ditchwater.

Still, a working car with MOT for a ton.

Did you by any chance used to own an XR2 Rich?

Nope, I have owned several Fiestas, never an XR2.  My neighbour has a mk1 XR2 though.

You are not MY Richard Braithwaite then - you clearly are an imposter (either that or there are a lot of them up north)

I'm happy to be your (or anyone's)  Richard Braithwaite, any time any place.  For a reasonable fee :)

Well, on my first morning of driving it, it delivered a sharp reality check.  No charging for you, young man!

Actually, it's BRILLIANT.  I can't believe I stumbled on this by accident.  I've used it today and it's as near to a proper Mini in spirit as I've ever got without actually being one.  For the size and weight, it's not slow at all (I was taking it steady in the pouring rain when I brought it home as I hadn't checked the tyres etc).  It's scabby but underneath it's not bad at all, my mechanic reckons the advisory heavy last MOT was another tester covering his backside with an older car, same as what happened when JohnK tested my old Cavalier.  Needs a new OSF shocker as it's a bit bouncy.  Other than that, top purchase.  And I'm falling for it, which wasn't the plan at all.
