It's not too difficult to get parts for, they were sold in masses as the Maruti 800 in India so there's still a good choice of parts out there. The head gasket set I bought recently came from Mumbai but most of the other parts can be sourced through ebay.

I don't see the point either - Autoshite has always been a place free of sub forums.

The Open Forum is a good idea but I don't think k we need more than that.

 

This really - if people can't manage to go past 1st page then it's really their look-out.

I (almost) completely ignore the open forum. There are a couple of shedding type threads I read, but thankfully all the politics and other guff is kept from polluting the main forum. I'll most likely do the same with this one.

It's not clear to me whether it's for moderns or modern shite and who decides which is which.

I guess the think is one thread about a new car in the normal section is an interesting different thread. If there were 10 of them then this place wouldn't really be the same.

Did I miss the discussion about proposing this or are we having the discussion about it after it's done?

I don't think it's necessary and will dilute the main area but if we must have it could it be better defined as 'forum for cars still in production', or 'forum for cars that don't need an mot yet' ? The term Modern is too open to interpretation and 10 years sounds arbitrary and is well into shite territory.

Instead of more sub-forums, couldn't we just use a "post-1986" tag to identify thread content that some 'shitters may find offensive ?

We 'could' have lots of sub forums, or none at all. But whatever is decided, someone won't like it. Just use the 'modern' bit if you want to, ignore it if you don't.
