OK, I know we have ebay tat etc, but I thought this deserves a thread all of it's own...Enjoy...

If the pictures don't lie, this must be the nicest one left? This must be seriously tempting for somebody on here?

JohnK's Solara is as good as that, or at least no more than a few hours of work away from it.

The Alpine there is wonderful, although it's been for sale for a long time. I'm sure the Talbot enthusiast with a spare £2k is out there, but you have to wait for them...

They really are miserable bastards, aren't they?

Would.

That's been for sale forever and a day. Offer them £600 for it, and if they've any nouse at all it'll be yours imo!

I think JohnK's is even better.

Also, I doubt any Talbot enthusiast is willing to spend 2 bags on anything short of a Tagora,

which has been thorougly demonstrated by

A. The purveyor of fine Talbot shite, who is a Talbot enthusiast in the same league as PShome

B. JohnK himself, who can be classed as a veritable Talbot enthusiast by any standards.

It's worth £20 and a mouldy Twix.

I've offered him £500, worth a try I guess. I do think my Solara is in better bodywork condition but that's still not £2k worth. Which I wish somebody would tell the lad with an identical Solara to mine for sale on Facebook at the moment for £2500. I want it for £800.

A Talbot Alpine is as desirable as a kick in the balls. At the end of the day, at some time or another, we've all tried advertising a car for crazy money just to see if some lunatic will pay it. The seller will have doubtless picked it up for £200 or even less, and is dreaming of a 1000% profit - my guess is you end up getting this for low low money!

So;

no history , the car has had a top half respray, there is a rust scab on the lower nsf wing, and the lower front valance is broken, also parcel shelf and rear Talbot badge is missing

That's not £2000.

It's smart enough though.

It's worth £600 max imo - and it's been on sale for over a year now iirc

That's quite lovely!

(I've quietly shat my pants now.... considering what I've spent on unloved Talbots)!

Been for sale with this dealer for a long time now which clearly implies its priced to high.  A nice example but not worth half the asking price.  Alpine/Solara/Horizon are really undervalued.

How it looked back 2007, shame the plates have been replaced.

Any details of the 2.5K Solara on Facebok ?.

And  'Series 2  5 Speed' transfer on tailgate is missing so must have had paint.  I had an A reg 1.6GL, great car though, even if it did sound like a skeleton tossing in a filing cabinet..

I recognise those photos! I took them at the Henham Wings & Wheels show, albeit that they seem to have been cropped by someone in the meantime.

I don't remember it in great detail - seemed nice enough but certainly not immaculate even 10 years ago.

If you could get it for £600 it would make a nice daily. Tidy enough to show but not an ornament.

If I were the dealer and it'd been a landmark like that, I'd be looking to punt it on at £750, expecting to take £650. There's just no market for them that's the problem.

Can see the scenario he's come by it, either a bereaved estate auction or it's been part ex for something newer. Either way he'll have paid buttons for it, to most it's just another old banger.

I feel I should comment on this, as I owned it back in 07 when indeed the photos were taken at the Wings & Wheels event at Henham Park.

I enjoyed the car which I purchased from a Talbot specialist somewhere around Ipswich way.

It was as rattly as one would expect and the top half of the car had the most crazy paint, like it had been washed with steel wool.

I will find out more info on it from when I had it if anyone cares.

I think it was sold via the bay to another 'specialist' car place.

Sounds like you bought it from Colin Hill near Ipswich, legendary Talbot specialist.  More info would be of interest.

I actually own the car now. Did pay too much for 1500 quid. But wanted one and was the only one i could find. But the car is a beauty. But the respray is the best base coat is patchy in places. But any info on car will be gratefully received.

Just want to be different and say that I think £1500 is a fair price.  It is so rare now.

We all know that the cost of restoring a car is so huge that I always think it is worth paying a shade more than a car is worth if you think it is a decent one.

If you are happy with it that's that. After all it's £1500 you've paid not £15,000.

The car is really sound and usable . Managed to source the few bits i need of Colin hill. He's been brilliant. The car flew it's MOT. And is now used daily. Does get a lot of looks. Mainly people think what's that noise first and what the hell is it? Second. Lol

The most important things are

1) You're here now.

2) You have a car that you like, and can enjoy.

Nobody here will ever, ever knock you for paying over the odds for an undesirable car.  When you get a second, read the thread about how we all bought the shittest Sierra in the country.

Welcome along, you'll fit in just nicely.

The old girl certainly has character. Don't think the Mrs shares my enthusiasm though. But that makes it all better haha

Apparently there are only 15 other sad i mean lucky people to have the privilege of being in team alpine :)

Will be doing a few local shows down here. Dragging father with me seen as it's his fault. Scaring me for life with a string of rattling mostly full of spud and brush underseal gems as a child. It will be on the Talbot stand. That reminds me must buy a decorating table and some Talbot bunting!

Fantastic way to arrive in the land of shite! Welcome! Please feel free to regale us with all the details (pleasant or gruesome) of:

Shows

Other trips out

Work needed

Work in progress

Joys and annoyances

Trials, tribulations and failures to proceed

General musings on Talbots (or anything at all, really)

I do like a tidy Alpine and, god knows, they're a rare sight now
