I'd love to have a go at this. There were some local lads doing something similar in an old quarry near me but the owners of the quarry eventually blocked off the entrance with big rocks.

I went to the aftermath of a field race a couple of years ago to flog one of the remaining cars around the track a few times. It gets more interesting with already dead vehicles scattered around, there was also a good place to get the car completely airborne which was good fun. Being a passenger in the diesel Focus estate with the owner behind the wheel was interesting as he had already done the circuit a few times and drove quite a lot faster than me, quite terrifying! Especially when we sideswiped an abandoned Mazda and the passenger door refused to lock, I had to hold it closed for the next two laps!

Apparently nobody has been seriously injured and only one person managed to roll their car over in the last few years, impressive I thought as the field is far from level!

Farmers get paid for field use and it was costing £300 for the day when I did autocross, if you can find a farmers son who also wants in on the fun then could be free.

If the farmer gets left 15 or 20 scrap cars - that's a grand in weigh in value. Cars must be left with V5, catalysts and battery.

Win-Win.

It's very good fun, exactly as it was in the old days.

Problem is times have moved on. Even the big boys are having problems with Councils, Health and safety, etc.

Eventually someone will be seriously injured. Is there any insurance? Liability waver that will stand up in court?

Ambulance chasers will have a field day, Farmer, organiser, driver involved.

There is always some bored old bat that doesn`t like it and will cause trouble with police, council etc.Even the established banger tracks have trouble with these types. My local oval now has an early curfew. It has been there decades but some new people moved in, complained about the noise and partly got his way, although he and some others did want it closed altogether.

Looks a right laugh, I'd be up for some of that.

Not sure some of your cars would pass scrutineering!

Autoshite field bangers meet RWYB, sponsored by cartakeback?

If it's done on a no contact basis we could all drive back home again,

Like the endurance race where the person who completes the most laps wins.

I can't go because I don't own a hoodie.

careful breadvan - you are very close to saying banger racers have an apparent dress code lol

I do have a pair of rigger boots for muddy days :-D

seriously though there is a very wide cross section of people who race and there is a good natured friendly atmosphere

tbf there is a large percentage who look like they fit the stereotype though !

Leave your windscreen in if you have a go. Door plate bolted thru a/b pillars would be sensible too.

Rigger boots also hold sfa ankle support should a wheel be pushed back thru a wobbin floor, pedal box.

Thumbs on outside of the steering wheel. Its not your driving test and that wheel whips round fast.

Have fun

Judging by the number of reported FTP's we would be lucky if half the people managed to make it to the track to begin with....

At least 5 regular banger drivers in that video. Some using there usual number nickname an roof number.

Was that Malc from Lincoln doing the video?

quite a few ex-drivers as well - its effectively invite only and massively oversubscribed. i think the idea is for about 30 odd cars but booking has always been closed at over 40. the next/last/weekender has 60 odd booked in with loads more on the reserve list!

Think its malcs video. He's been a bit obsessed with powering a dildo with a steam engine and some 1930s mechano a late mind

If it was a non contact Autoshite GP/TT driftland can be hired for £100 an hour I think. Not expensive between a group for two or three hours.

Thought I recognised the voice, quite enjoy his random videos and seeing the stuff he was making, never realised you could cast Ali without an electric arc furnace.

I also quite like the idea of this.

If we had an Autoshite one, it would give me an excuse to try and convince the shadow to find me the nastiest thing he could for less than £25.
