Nope, because a 105bhp L-series will drop straight* in.

Right, I just popped round to see the van, it's parked in Jack's (the owner) brothers pub car park. Bumped into his brother while I was there - he opened it up and started it. Started first go - it's been stood for 5 months. Very pleasant XU clatter which suited the van lovely TBH. Sounded and smelled like a van should.

It's done 200k, was in regular use until Jack upgraded because he got an offer of a newer, cheap van. As you can see, he's just used it for his upholstering business, he's had it for probably about ten years.

It's MOTd while June and impressively doesn't ever seem to have had any advisories or fails for corrosion, and it's actually only done a couple of miles since it passed the last test!

Theres a few bleb's and whatnot as pictured but its not too bad from my quick inspection, although I wasn't about to go shuffling underneath it cos I'm hungover and tbh I don't know where to look.

A good wash would do it a lot of favours.

If you want to get in touch, send me a PM and I'll pass on his mobile or something - please don't just ring the number on the side! I don't think he wants random internet people calling him.

He'd like to see £300 for it but I don't think thats firm.

IIRC one of the home delivery firms back in the day had Pilots to this spec with drivers slidey door. I wonder if it was new to them? Hmm. And Billy's perfect van

I quite like this! Please keep it on the forum...

That looks like an ex-Federal Express home delivery van. CLASS. High-water mark for build quality on that MY too.

^^^Yeah. what Will said.

LDV tried hard with odd specs like the one slidey door.

I doubt Ford would entertain such a thing unless you wanted 100's.

Hang on, Luh-Duh-V were still fitting slidies on R plates? Thought they'd well and truly phased them out by that point! Looks a gem for not a lot of groats.

I think it was legislation that phased them out rather than LDV itself?  I think those sliding door parts have MOWOG or something impressed onto some parts for added CLASS.

Just had to look that one up. Great to see a motor which is built in the late 1990's has stamps telling everyone it's from 'Morris Wolseley Garages'. British is best!

That is super duper hot and must be saved. I will send 5 electronic pounds towards its purchase or upkeep if it goes to someone on here.

Maybe if cobblers can be arsed to organise? Its not actually his to sell though and could sell elsewhere or something before the roffle completed.

Surely someone wants it for $$?

Posted

Yeah, I'd considered a roffle but at this stage I'll just see if any bugger wants to just pay for it normally.

I don't think he's actually advertised it anywhere though so I could have a word with him about it. I think it'd blow his brain a bit though so lets just try for a plain sale for now.

If I had a massive warehouse I'd buy it myself and just park it up for the sake of having it around the place.

The sliding door is mega basic, it's like opening a door on one of those £100 metal sheds. At the back instead of a proper seal they just put a flippin great flap of rubber and hoped for the best, I bet it's pretty draughty on an 80mph motorway run through the night etc

Heck this is gorgeous. I'm doing some building work at home too....not far away either

Posted

The interior looks in remarkable condition given its mega mileage, most other more expensive vans interiors would be in tatters.

Posted

If it was a Merc, you would be needing a dustpan & brush. I'm surprised Billy Cavcraft hasn't bought this already

Posted

Can I have someore details about this please? Mainly location, I've probably missed this

Posted

If it does go to a Roffle, I'm in for at least two numbers.  Can't possibly justify actually buying it but winning would be a different story... ;)

Posted

Incidentally if you get a Perkins engine, or a Perkins equipped LDV, you won't need to bother doing an XUD TD conversion, imho.

Y tho?

This is CLASS.

Posted

Actually... as soon as I posted that I had another idea.

Anyone want to buy it, deliver it to me and drive away in a Rover 75? ;)

I'd so love this to stay on here and when Bub delivery expands I can buy it. Woohoo

How about you drive the Rover to me, Rochdale ish, I pay you the price of a cheap LDV,  and I drive you to Bolsover to pick it up.

Started straight up. No need for the easy start thats on the floor in the cab.

Sliding doors are for winners. Someone get in there while the getting is good.

Posted

What is point sliding driver's door - multi-drop deliveries?

Sunny days, feeling cool, watching girls.

High speed keeps the cab clean.
