BMW, Mercedes or Audi - £1k cash waiting! - CAR BOUGHT - WITH PICS

There's a BMW Montego blue which is annoying if you're searching for Austin Rover's almost class leading saloon on eBay.

Here you go, pez Audi A4, very close to Beaconsfield, £500 change from your £1000. The advert is 26 days old mind.

No rust visible

Possibly because no pictures.

Also this:

Here's a not-Rover:

In your situation I'd probably go for this, but I don't think it will quite convey the quality and prestige you were hoping for:

I stopped the thought of being helpful as soon as Peter attacked Taynes car and said Rovers weren't good.

So, with that in mind:

But Rovers must have been good, BMW bought them and fitted their engines inside of them!

Ergo, buy a 75 with a BMW engine. All the comfort of a Rover with the reliability* of a BMW. Then, when you're posting here stuck waiting for the AA we can console you by ripping the fuck out of the the fact that a BMW engine has possibly gone wrong.

There's a free Xantia up for grabs early next year by someone on here, then you would have £1k to do whatever you like with, possibly sitting in the pub explaining to people at great length who don't want to listen how you think Rovers are crap.

Rovers aren't crap, it's vauxhalls wot are - phackt!

£1000 banger - Merc.

C or E class, M111 petrol, 4 speed auto, the odd rust bleb but what a comfortable and relaxing way to travel. The bug eyed E Class is a nice old turd for bicycle money.

Avoid the 2002 onwards 1.8 M271 petrol four at all costs.

Just bought a BMW, an E36 though. 1.6 hatchback model for my first car. Picking it up tomorrow!

Here's how you're meant to do it, you gotta show 'em the money, make sure they know you're serious.

Car purchased. Found a lovely 2001 330Ci SE, 100k on the clock, great spec, everything works, superb condition, mint engine and 'box. Purchase price only slightly exceeded the original budget but still a great result.

Have some pics.

You got an automatic rather than a manual.

You lied to us in your opening post (!).

This is how you repay us for our genuinely helpful suggestions that began immediately following the opening of the thread?!

That looks lush, I've been eyeing these up after finding a buyer for my focus, I used to get 22mpg out of my 528i so will probably buy a 2.0 or 2.2 one this time.

The Beige/cream leather in Tayne' s one looks far classier.........

Other than that it looks nice.

Good choice. The 330i auto does drive well. I'm an SE m,an myself - don't really do M Sport bruv.

Got loads of used bits here including a couple of factory CD head units.

Why is it the leather on those 3 series BMWs looks so hard, cheap and nasty?  Even the cloth trim look dreary too.

What a complete pile of shit!

I wouldn't waste over a grand on that. You can keep it mate

Do those head units play MP3 cds do you think?

Think so - have a read of this:

The main difference is the type of aerial connection - older ones have a conventional type. You'll need to pull your radio out (5 mins - surround trim prised off and two screws) and post a pic of the aerial connector.

mot history looks good, when you say exceeded budget????

laguna would have been perfect.

It's very heavily processed leather. Std fitment Dakota style in BMW speak. Its pretty hard wearing if edging towards feeling plasticy compared to the softer leather upgrades you can specify them with at extra cost from new. Also it's only the front faces that are actually leather, the rest is plastic, which in fairness most manufacturers do to cut costs down.

It cost me a few of hundred quid more the suggested £1k budget and I found it (via AutoTrader) less than 10 miles from my house. The car was sold by an easy going trader who made the transaction a quick and easy process. Buying cheap old cars can be a pain nowadays and I really didn't want to commit my entire weekend, spending hours on the road looking at rusting jalopies. I'm happy with what I've achieved.
