Hello Y'all, It's been a while since i been on here... busy with R/L stuff... anyway... tonight i was sat at pc screen when my daughter says "what's that auto thingy you used to go on"?.. anyway long story short she has asked me to help her find her 1st car (OH GAWD)...anyway the few stipulations she put are... must be a runner... with mot... and an automatic... i had to halt her when she moved onto car colours 

anyway something the size of a clio...picanto micra ... her top budget is £1k at a stretch(her words not mine)

£950, 77000 miles, but MOT a tad short (March 2017). Plus Staffordshire isn't exactly close to London but car looks alright

Just got this back from my mate, tonight. Loaned him it for work whilst he was between cars:

 

 

27k, Full stamped history, 11 months test, 2 (I think) previous owners, 30 quid tax, 2 keys, wants for nothing. Interior very tidy, no usual bolster or carpet wear etc. Runs on fresh air.

 

Looking for £800. Can deliver.

 

Missed the auto bit lol. Does she have a manual licence? If so, I strongly suggest you tempt her into a manual. If not, she will probably never drive one again.

Severely limiting her choice of future cars. IMO anyway.

I dunno! I thought this when a wife's friend said she was getting an auto licence. However when I thought about it, manuals could be a dieing thing with the rise of full electrics and hybrids. Almost all of them are automatic in some form. Especially full-electric.

I wouldn't on a £1k budget, they're CVT, and I've not heard the best things about them. 25000 mile fluid change interval...

Two of our neighbours had them in the early 2000s, both of which have migrated to Toyotas now, having not rated the Jazz much either.

Jazz is excellent in all but CVT flavour. But then pretty much anything in CVT or robo-box flavour is crap. I'd be really looking for something with traditional slush.

Peugeot 306 Automatic.  Fun to drive, spacious, cheap as chips, strong 4 speed proper auto box (must be pre-1999 though to get ZF box and not awful AL4).
