I couldn't attend this year. So if this is sorted and dates arranged I should be able to get my eldest to mind the kids and attend. Happy to travel anywhere in the country.

Next year is looking crazy busy for me, so not sure I want to be adding event organising into the mix this time. It's all a lot different since our last event there. I fear it may not be quite so successful.

That's a shame Ian, it was a lovely weekend.

Bulgaria? Give me a heads up so I can get a passport and do some saving though

The Haford have certainly put up there prices, I am trying to organise a trip there in April for another car group and the room prices have gone up from £55 to £80, they say because of the improved facilities and rooms.

True that they've done a lot of refurbishing. Not been in any of the rooms though, before or after.

I have a bigger tent on wheels this year, no need for a hotel room.

Although it was nice to go for a massive dump before dinner

I remember that mentioned at sf16 when he wasn't there...

Someone nominated me but realistically i don't have the time to organise anything with a baby at the moment.

Don't make it too far from the North East, I'd like to bring the Renault.

Fuck me! You can rent my whole villa in Florida for £80 a night.

£80 a night is quite cheap nowadays. I stay in a lot of Hafod type hotels and they are often well into 3 figures.

I'm sure we mentioned the Bubble Car museum again last year, perhaps we could approach them again?

I know of a couple of decent cafes not too far from there, but I'd recommend either side of the summer season to avoid too many touristy types.

ShiteFest in Boston? I could walk to that :-D

I liked Wales, lovely scenic views. But I'm easily pleased and will travel. Hopefully I'll still have the trusty van then too.

Bubble car museum sounds good as a focal point, what can they offer our group?

Posted

How many shiters can fit into a bubble car?

How about having sf17 at/near an auction? I'm thinking cannock but with Moar people. That could be our day out, we had the quiz at Wales, trains at chinnor etc

Posted

If you want a Shitefest in your area I suspect it is as simple as thinking of a venue for cheap camping with some noise and room for cars, thinking up a Saturday outing and organising the event. You will then have your own Shitefest!

Posted

We could have multiple options, could do a poll with a fight to the death for the winner or something.

I'm easy where it is, although if it's an SVM job next year I'll need to plan annual leave, save up money, hope there's a convoy etc

Posted

I think that if somebody/group organises it the members will arrive in there droves, as it is easier to travel than organising an event!

So if you fancy making us all travel miles step forward and tell us what you have in mind?

On a slight tangent (I may start a separate thread closer to the time), 17-Coffees once suggested to me that we organise a 'mini-shitefest' to coincide with the How Many Left show in Alford.

Alford is North West of Aberdeen, and the show is in May. It's good fun, and IIRC Derskine from here won the rarest car prize last year with his Renault. It put a lot of 'proper' classic car enthusiasts' noses out of joint!

I think there's a campsite nearby, I need to do some more research, but for now it's just an idea.

We also found out that my Xantia would be eligible to enter, as there are less than 500 Xantia HDi SXs on the road in the UK right now.

I am NOT offering to organise this & will ignore any suggestions I did but...

The Old George at Sykehouse is pretty central to the UK, does good food & has a camping field. I know a bike club that does their annual thing there every year.

They have a proper campsite that is reasonably priced and have electrical hook ups and facilities.

Nearby you have the Aviation heritage centre, Windley's Scrap Yard, Tattershall Castle so plenty to interest the decerning shiter...

Old Geezer Auctioneer's face would be a picture!  Though, by the way he sounded on Saturday, it might just finish him off.
