Calling all maestro maestro's

I have just bought a 2L diesel van I think it's a perkins prima engine.

Would like to know ..

what the cambelt intervals are ?

and

Is it interference or non ?

Its at 226K Miles and I believe it was last done at 150k! bit cautious.

Where did they make these vans ?

Ace. You will need ear defenders.

All Diesel engines are "interferance" engines, there is never space enough above the piston to save the valves because the combustion chamber space is always small and in the form of a pocket or chamber.

I don't find it noisy though ,I was disappointed. Noticed it gets worse over 55mph when I Bombed down the M25 last night. Been to the scrap yard in the old man's Bmc fg700 today and that is truly noisy.

Guest Lord Sward

Those late ones had a two-stage injection system and were significantly quieter, especially with the uprated interior.  That was a very advanced diesel engine that was great to own and drive. I utterly loved the two (H and M reg) which I ran as company vans.

Unless a BL perv knows better all Maestros were built in Cowley. The CKD kits sold to a Bulgarian firm in the mid 1990s made their way back to the UK and were assembled by two different companies here.
