The worst bit was the steering wheel in all honesty.

Tell you what, Ken, if you think that's bad, you should have seen it when I first picked it up.

I cleaned it a couple of times when I had it.

The squeaking is defcon 10 annoying. Had upper wishbone fitted.

Deffo suspension, they all do it.

My wife's 147 was squeaky as owt when we got it, I sprayed grease on all the rubber bits on the suspension which helped slightly.

The main thing that helped was actually using it regularly, 90% of the squeaks are gone now its in regular service.

Ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww! That is disgusting! Well done both of you for getting it as good as it is now then. Fuck that was horrible.

I used to spray silicon on the wishbone bushes when I had my 156. Worked a treat stopping the squeaking

The Pastamobile has been doing sterling service thus far. Bit swappage will hopefully start tomorrow if I can get into the garage.

purplebargeken - Is the silver Sports Wagon being broken for parts?

How is the driver's side rear door?

Where are you based?

Posted

It is being broken. Door is ok but does have a scuff that should mop out.

I'm in North London, Edmonton. Shithole extrordinaire

A little less squeaky. Will spray some more stuff over the moving bits at some point :)

Posted

OK I have of course thought of more stuff now. I have a perfectly good rear door but it was from a 2003 car and is a different silver so I am trying to save having to paint what I have. In a different incident the front wing has had a knock that caused it to catch the door and could do with replacing. My drivers side headlight looks like it has layers peeling off it and was an MOT advisory. My Front drivers side fog light is cracked and I am missing the fuse cover panel my the driver right knee.

Now I am thinking out loud, it seems you are 60 miles from me and the bits are still attached to your car. Collecting them is not a problem but taking them off is.

PM me with what you are thinking.

The fuse cover..... they all do that. Ebay is king for that one.

Getting it off looks like a piece of piss, just not sure about the wiring line from car through door.

You can have the door for nowt if you give me a hand to swap door cards over from the donor to Pasta ;)

The headlight drivers side is yours if wanted.

Good to see this happening Ken- those 156 have a way of worming into one's affections..

With an offer like this I need to get myself sorted out. I can arrange my workdays to get time off during the week, what suits you best? PM if you like.

The fuse covers always fall off, as noted above.  I gave up on it after various attempts at tape and other bodges. Did I not give you a spare fog lamp with the car?  I am fairly sure that there was one, or have you already put it on, but had more stone damage?

The fog light was cracked when I took the car but still seems to work. I have not got a spare fog light.

I still kind of want one after driving it round Knockhill. That 5-cylinder diesel warble plus the effortless torque must make it lovely to drive on the open road.

I will look in the shed for the fog lamp, but my shed is TATKAOS.

It is good fun, I really do have to be careful with the go pedal lol

Spent a couple of hours claying Pasta yesterday. Looks much better, especially the bonnet. Shame about the myriad of stone chips but what the heck. It does look much betterer.

Just waiting for the rota to be completed and then door day can be identified. Me not forgotten :)

Mine came with a small black screw which did a good job of holding it on whilst looking unobtrusive

Anyone want a nice 2.0 156 TS engine and gearbox for not very much? Downside? It's in North London and still in the car.

First one with 75 quid ONO owns it, must bring suitable removing utensils.

You can have whatever else is in the engine bay as well for nowt.

Bit of an update, still lagging behind the bits swappage due to OMGwintercoldness.

Also noticed that the coolant level had dropped, although to be fair, the coolant bottle was absolutely minging and you be hard pushed to see the level anyway. Topped up with a bit of the correct coolant and will see how it goes.

Bought one of those clear coat pens from t'internet just for a laugh. Will try and report back. It might just work on cars in America as they have actual sunshine.
