Shit Gear: Soviet Style

This Calum fellow definitely seems like a grade A bellend. Is he thick, or just ignorant? The fact they've removed the video suggests he realises he's in the wrong...

* Edit: With regard to sending him the link to this thread - didn't you say someone else in the video is already a member on here? If so, I'd imagine he's already been informed and is one of the thread guest lurkers...

How can the video not represent how they treated the cars? Its clearly shows how they treated the cars!  My parents brought me up to respect other peoples property, something that's sadly lacking these days.

One of them is a member on here, the other two are probably lurkers, it's worth putting the info out that they've abused your car so that in future when they want to borrow a car for a feature, the owners know that they don't give a shit about their car.

Whilst there are respectable journalists like dollywobbler etc getting bad reputations by twats, there are going to be people less likely to loan cars out.

A guy I know hires cars out for shoots and film work, he has had so many trashed gearboxes that he now hires them out at market value and if they don't like it, tough shit

That would annoy me loads! What if they broke it on their drive? Would you have been thrown the keys back and told tough shit? Would they have had the insurance to deal with it if it went wrong? I read somewhere a few years ago of a car breaking whilst in the hands of a journo and his insurance wouldn't cover it or something so it ruined him.

Having licked the car at SF16 I'm upset it was treated in this way! I share your annoyance

Twitter shaming generally works in this sort of situation

I think I've taken this far enough, I'm mildly annoyed about the whole situation but I wouldn't want anyone to lose their job or get in trouble from their employers over this.

I'll chalk it up to experience and think more carefully about who I trust in future.

I seem to recall that was some fancy race car, worth a fair chunk of cash. Engine blew up, owner blamed the journo. I know it all ended up in court, but can't recall the outcome. Fine for me, as I only dabble in worthless tat generally.

On a related matter, I have virtually zero interest in Youtube vids that primarily feature a talking head prattling on about the car whilst they drive around.  Show me the car for goodness' sake, not your ugly mug!  No offence to the guys on here that make such films... Horses for courses etc...

Problem is, showing the car is actually very difficult to achieve when you've got sod all budget. That's why my videos are 'talking head prattling on about  the car whilst they drive around.' I don't have a fat lot of choice. Even just doing a 'walkaround' scene really needs a wireless mic set-up, shooting car requires two other people and even just simple drive-by shots (which last seconds) require a helper I don't have. Soz.

I think your videos are great, informative and entertaining.

Thank you. One of the problems is that Roadkill is such an appealing format. It costs a TON of money to make videos like that though. Video is expensive, which is why even the major publishers don't really go in for it that much.

I wonder why the video has been taken down by the uploader.

What with the commision being completed to the brief and the video being a lark that didnt accurately represent the way the cars were treated and everything.

I have spoke to one of the persons involved in this, they saw this post and spoke to me so they are fully aware if it. I personally think one of them let them all down a little bit and they are aware that the final video cut doesn't paint them in a good light. I can't say anymore as i don't want to get anyone in trouble.

I think it's commendable by FOAD to chalk it up and move on. Can't fix anything now, even if the "presenters" got sacked it doesn't solve anything.

Google is all seeing enough that this thread will serve as a reminder to anyone thinking of trusting them in the future.

Can't say I'm not disappointed in the lack of Internet Threats though. No setting fire to anyone, going round for a fight etc. Not even lawyers being mentioned. Pah.

Does anyone know what magazine this feature was completed for?

Id like to read the related article if there is one.

Think it was "gun someone else's motor and hope we don't get caught"

Bearing in mind the 'classic cars for sale' is merely a blog, I wonder if their 'commission' wasn't even for a magazine? At the very least, I hope that Calum chap is grounded by his Mum for a week, is given gruel on Christmas day and is told the truth about Father Christmas. Then, hopefully, when he grows up, he'll be humbled a little, with less propensity for a twattish attitude.

Which one's on here? I wouldn't want to inadvertently enter into any sort of deal with such idiots & I suspect most others on here wouldn't either.

Bloody Hell! If that's a Bauer Media video, it is seriously crap. "Amateurish" would be doing a disservice to amateur video producers everywhere. Greenfield Primary P4s asked to make a spoof of Top Gear for their class project wouldn't have been any poorer.

There seems to be plenty of clarkson wannabes these days that think all you need is to be able to waffle into a phone.

I was going to ask for a phone number but I'm dealing with the Christmas rush and don't need another one right now.

So just how big is your phone bill.

Significant, particularly as I find text messaging too impersonal.

One cannot place too high a price on going about God's work however.

Calum Brown is apparently a 'petrol head'. Dickhead, more like.

" A huge petrol head, I thoroughly enjoy working on classic cars with a particular appreciation for Land Rover and Jaguar. Hold RYA sailing certificates and support guide dog funding and UNICEF alongside undertaking a passion for photography, film making and writing. "
