So what happened with this FOAD?

I've no idea what has happened to it or what will happen to it in the future.

What was the last thing that happened to it in your ownership then?

It went to auction, I was certain that nobody would buy it and set a reserve of £200 which it owed me. I had an interesting offer from someone from Bauer media who said he was keen to buy it and would give me £100. I told him it was too late, it had already been picked up by the auction and if it made the reserve then maybe he would be taking it home.

The guys from Bauer arrived at the auction a day early and had a test drive of the Lada along with some other cars, the auction manager had allowed them to use it on my behalf, I wasn't all that bothered to be honest, I figured if they got to see how fucking shit it was then they probably wouldn't buy it.

On the day of the auction the guys from Bauer couldn't make it due to "work commitments" which I thought was slightly strange. I arrived to the auction with minutes to spare and waited in anticipation for lot 550 to be auctioned.

The auctioneer announced that the Lada Samara was being sold and gave out some of the details, I heard a lot of people chuckling to themselves and muttering or whatever then the bidding started...

A bid with them for £200, a bid in the hall for £250 then an online bidder with £300...

TLDR

It sold at auction for £300.

Result!!!! Nice work FOAD!!

Is it much of a result though? I feel I've been misled by the guys at Bauer and the auction manager about what was really going on and everyone is being vague about who actually got the car. Dugong also managed to fall out with me because he claimed I was accusing his mates of underhandedness.

I know some Bauer folk were up north recently. Could be they just blagged a test drive while passing. We do that sometimes. I had a drive of a certain blue Ami before James May bought it. I didn't know then that he would. And £100 was probably offered because writer types are generally skint. I'm not sure there's a big conspiracy here.

I was told that they were up there reviewing the auction, that was all. It was part of a £51 car road trip feature they were doing too i think. I'm pretty certain none of them bought the car.

But it sold and went for more than you expected, that's what matters right? Lord knows what these Bauer guys were up to but in view of the outcome it doesn't seem to have caused any real downside for you?

From what I read online the Bauer guys went up to do a roadtrip feature in a cheap car they bought.

The Morris Leslie auction visit was one of the stops on the way there (or back).

The results said FOAD's car sold for £300 so he appears to have done alright, as Mr Bollocks reckons above.

Where did you read all of this? Link please?

Are they though? They all seem to have a fleet of classic cars, that can't be cheap can it?

Have you seen some of the fleets? Most of the staff car columnists seem to be like us, with 8 cars on book but a constant struggle to keep more than one or two roadworthy. Having workshop space helps as well.

Its not really a secret as it's been posted all over the internet and you said yourself it sold for £300. I'm struggling to see what the problem is, you couldn't sell it on Facebook so auctioned it and got a fair price for it (considering it's hardly immaculate). If you didn't want to sell it then why do it?

I just didn't like being lied to, if all they wanted was to blag a go in the Samara I would have agreed to it.

I wanted the car to go to someone who actually wanted it so I guess somebody wanted it pretty badly to spend £300 on it.

FOAD, magazines drive auction consigned vehicles all the time - unless the owner categorically states otherwise.

What they did was no different to what a potential buyer would do with the car - run and test it. Part of the process.

Plus, someone paid out for it, so that's a result, surely?

I must be missing a massive chunk of this story because I don't see how selling a pretty ropey looking car to a sympathetic owner for an assumed profit (did it still owe you?) is a bad thing.

Sorry if I missed something significant.

Fuck off and die.

Bit harsh, lots of work was put into this by foad and the previous owners. I would rather it was "pretty ropey" than was scrapped, which could have happened had it not been fixed up.

Oh dear, someone's having a bad day! Cheer up Foadster!

This acycone cunt can get himself to fuck, I already stated why I was annoyed which was being lied to about their intentions. That's it, end of the story...

it does seem silly that they would lie, when I bet you'd have let them crawl all over it at leisure if they just told you what they wanted to do! You could have invited them back to foad towers and watched them wet themselves

Wow.

Cheers.

Is this a normal reaction on here? I should be told.

For a long time lurker you don't appear to know very much of what is normal on the forum, may I suggest that you go back to lurking because this interacting thing doesn't appear to be working.

Well that escalated quickly...

Samara sounds like it's off to a keen new owner though which is good to hear.

Still got the Riva?

It certainly did...

The Riva is still here.

Still needs a bit of work but I'm sure I'll get there eventually.

I saw an episode of Top Gear that did that.

I wonder where those CCFS kids get their crazy ideas from.

A: Top Gear. As was.

By 31mph in a Fiat 126 you should be in third gear: max recommended speed in 2nd is 30.

Remember, the car still belonged to me at the point the video was made.

So. Are those people filming themselves caning other peoples cars, or did the own the others and not the Samara?
