Supernaut Posted October 2, 2016 Posted October 2, 2016 Today, Tayne took me to a scrap yard to hunt for parts for ruffgeezer's Datsun estate. I took lots of photos, and so did he. Time for a little game. What was this once a part of? We were stumped. Richard, mouseflakes, ruffgeezer and 8 others 11
Richard Posted October 2, 2016 Posted October 2, 2016 I'm not sure, but that's a Stomil tyre on the right.
rantingYoof Posted October 2, 2016 Posted October 2, 2016 Feels like the rear of a Volvo 760 saloon. Or a Nissan Bluebird. Maybe. Sent from my GT-I9505 using Tapatalk
JeeExEll Posted October 2, 2016 Posted October 2, 2016 I think the silver bit's off a late 80s Bluebird or Mazda 626. Where is the field of dreams? Is that how Rora looks these days? Or is it the one on the back road between BoD and Dyce?
Supernaut Posted October 2, 2016 Author Posted October 2, 2016 I reckon it's the Mazda 626, it even has the same little vent things at the trailing edge of the rear window. Also, it was in neither location you suggested, Capree.
dollywobbler Posted October 2, 2016 Posted October 2, 2016 Wow! Nissan 300C estate would be my guess.
Supernaut Posted October 2, 2016 Author Posted October 2, 2016 Wow! Nissan 300C estate would be my guess. Tayne got some photos of a really obscure Datsun estate while we were there. Not the one we were taking parts off for ruffgeezer either, it was a big'un instead! I'm hoping he adds his photos to this topic at some point later.
messerschmitt owner Posted October 2, 2016 Posted October 2, 2016 I'm in perth/Stirling/Montrose in two weeks if anything needs transported further south for Ruff.
EssDeeWon Posted October 2, 2016 Posted October 2, 2016 What is that bumper off of thats lying under the little white Fiat?
greengartside Posted October 2, 2016 Posted October 2, 2016 What is that bumper off of thats lying under the little white Fiat? I'd guess at it being off a VW Polo, looks very similar. Liking the Sherpa photos, how much would the guy want for the wiper arms / blades?
Richard Posted October 2, 2016 Posted October 2, 2016 Can't be, it's not engulfed in a cloud of steam. chaseracer 1
chaseracer Posted October 2, 2016 Posted October 2, 2016 Ah, but it WAS. That's partly why it dissolved so quickly. Richard 1

17-Coffees Posted October 2, 2016 Posted October 2, 2016 Going by both your photos, alot of the grass has been cut since I was there last July. Quite a few things could't be identified or reached it was that overgrown! Lovely place to have a walk around. Stuff from the 90's right back to one or two 30's/40's looking stuff! Did you find the Renault 17?

17-Coffees Posted October 2, 2016 Posted October 2, 2016 Not on this trip, nor previous. I've been in the depths of winter and much mire is visible when the grass in low but its so wet and cold. It's up at the far end, hidden behind some random scrap and deep grass. had no idea what it was until I managed to peer inside and see the Renault badge on the steering wheel! NorfolkNWeigh Posted October 3, 2016 Posted October 3, 2016 Almost invisible today but saw it a couple of winters ago. DSC 0611 par Tayne, on ipernity What's the blue thing behind it?As Capree says it's an Audi 100. Specifically a 1976 100 GL Special, a runout special edition for the UK market which came loaded with all the options; automatic, sunroof, vinyl roof, metallic paint and most important, as far as I was concerned ,rear headrests.I had a brochure when I was 12 and lusted after those rear headrests, before that only S Classes and 3.3LiA s had ever had them . When I was 19 I bought one for £300 ( Audi depreciation was never good) and abused it silly. It survived a seized engine, bought a donor 1975 LS for that. Hitting a wall and telegraph pole- ended up with square LS headlights and the back seat cushion catching fire by shorting on the battery- swapped it with no MOT for a 2000e Cortina of the same age- piece of shit by comparison, but then when new the Audi probably cost the same as a Granada Ghia.
Junkman Posted October 3, 2016 Posted October 3, 2016 I had a brochure when I was 12 and lusted after those rear headrests, before that only S Classes and 3.3LiA s had ever had them . That's actually not really entirely 100% correct. [/pedant] NorfolkNWeigh 1
