Autoshite trailer tent? Roadtrip! !

It seems I've provisionally agreed to buy a late 1970's dandy trailer tent. In lovely brown, with beige and brown interior. Is this truly the autoshite trailer tent? Built to last years due to the PVC outer, but prone to chassis rot(this one is apparently good underneath). Needs a little tidying up, but useable. hopefully collecting it from bath next weekend. Will look good behind the old ZX hopefully.

have a library picture of one similar.

Mine is the same but orange and beige. You can get awnings to match if you look hard enough. Ace things to own, always gets attention. Stinks like a musty old caravan.

Trailer tents are better than caravans because they are easier to convert to trailers...

You've obviously not tried the jcb method of converting a caravan to a trailer then!

There's a crap load of these turned up for sale on a local Faceache page (for local people) but not as Brown as this, and around the 500 mark....

1 has even been converted from a trailer tent to a folding caravan

Can put some links up if anyone interested?

Well had some photos today of the trailer body and it looks better than expected. Off to bath on Saturday for a collection. The ex caravan storage box will be going and something more suitable made to fit it. post-740-0-74460600-1475075912_thumb.jpegpost-740-0-44935500-1475075934_thumb.jpeg

Well just about to head off on a 200 mile round trup to collect this in a 24 year old Citroën. What could possibly go wrong!

Well made it home in one piece. The old asthmatic zx wasn't much slower pulling a trailer around. It's definitely a restoration project. Found a tiny bit of welding to do on the chassis, and the rest is just new woodwork required and time. Quite looking forward to getting stuck into it over winter.

Although hard to tell for certain, that could well be the one we had 10 years ago.

Did the fold up wall in the bed compartment have loads of large stickers along the top edge? There's evidence this used nto. Also all the exterior cappings are painted in bronze hammerite. Looks like a caravan locker box on the front chassis supported on blocks of wood. If you can think of any identifying features I'll have a look tomorrow when I put it up for full inspection. There's a repair on the inside of the white roof skin I've just remember. I collected it from trowbridge area.

Took it round a mates today for a full inspection and a oh God what have I brought moment. Trailer is fine, the pic canvas cleaned up well but most the wood inside is toast. Thankfully it's just ply so easily sorted other than that it's all riveted together. Ordered new material to retrieve it inside keeping with the beige and brown theme. Slung the mattress on one side as 34 year old foam doesn't appeal to sleep on. Going to refoam the seats on the other side too. Have some pictures of its full shonkyiness state. Ones in half decent condition seem to sell for around 5 to 6 hundred quid so I e room to spend a few pennies without worrying about it becoming a money pit
