I have just come back and I have to agree with Mr Bollox, there is bugger all there in terms of shite.

 

I rarely ever saw anything pre-2000 and even then they were mostly late 90s Astras or MK4 Golfs on their last legs.

 

Notable exceptions to this included a 1996 MK1 Mondeo with intact front bumpers in Bellacorick and a 1995 Audi 80 estate in Bangor Erris, but that was a UK car (M reg).

 

This is a saddening decline from the great memories I have of childhood visits where you would struggle to not see early to mid 90s Toyotas and Nissans everywhere, mixed with a cocktail of Opel Corsa Bs and MK3 Astra saloons.

...quite a bit outside the cities, n in large towns; lots of shite in the rural areas, but due to our crappy 'B' road networks (ie donkey track roads) a visitor here isn't like to clap eyes on many of these 'shite jems'... lotta reasons; scrappage schemes every 6 years, shite being bought up by exporters, lack of old shie in scrapyards to keep your shite-heap going, costs/inavailability of insurance for older shite... etc etc
