Trusted Shitter Scheme Audi A4 diesel or VW Golf

I may well have a potential candidate for such a scheme if there is interest.

However, despite the adventures of the Lancia Y10 I am a little unsure as to how this is perpetuated, what are the legalities of it, etc.

Would there be interest in such a thing currently? What would peoples obligations be?

From what I've seen/can remember I think it's basically a 'custodian' scheme - get yourself an insurance policy for it, and it's basically that person's in all but name/V5 - if it breaks you fix it etc.

Also, what happened to the Help for Heroes MGF?

I'd PM Reg_Scrotalsac as I'm pretty sure he got on OK with his 'Krazy Argenta Loan Scheme Plan'. I recall his advert set out the conditions clearly, you might even be able to find it?

The HFHMGF is with FordDeliveryBoy being cared for, fettled and stuff because it was starting to get a bit bangernomics and that's not right.

FDB is the kind of person who cares what tyres it has, so this should be good.

However, this car wasn't a loan, as such each time its changed hands it's had a new name on the V5 because it's long term stuff. It makes it easier for shorter term stuff if it stays in one name, but some insurance companies care about that and obvs any speeding or parking tickets go through a convoluted route.

I borrowed a skoda felicia off a guy for a month once like this, worked out totally great, I had a car to get me out of a hole, he had a month long holiday without worrying his car would be stolen. No contract or money, just an exchange of phone numbers and addresses. This was ten years ago when people were a little less scabby tho.

I think with the Y10 there was a deposit of sorts (£150ish?) that the first loanee paid to Phil and each subsequent loanee paid it back to them, I think this helps stop anyone deciding to just park it in a canal because they were bored.

It can stay in the owners name on the V5 but this means that some insurance companies will be arsey if policyholder isn't the owner.

Depending on the vehicle in question it may be worth just filling in the V5 everytime so everyone gets their own speeding tickets etc, obvs this means owners will be added to the logbook but since when did anyone care about that?

It's only fair to have a deposit scheme in place. I concur with Dave - what car is it?

Ok, having read Mr B's thread and so on. I think that this might be a go.

Small deposit from the first trusted shitter, say £100. Then the same down the line to each subsequent Shitter?

Each shitter fills in the V5C cos tickets and shit.

Each shitter promises to maintain it and fix if it breaks. Anything spectacular and it gets returned to me.

Insured in the Shitters name.

Each Shitter posts on here about it on a fairly regular basis so we all know what is happening.

It will be an Audi A4 diesel N reg, currently in Bubs custody.

Anything else? Any interest?

egr blanked off and I'll try to sort out a tyre on it too but unsure at the minute if the wheel is porous. Oil change will be done soon too.

Wheels are a piece of piss to find for these, anything Passat/A4/A6/quite a few Benz wheels plus cheapo eBay spigot rings will fit.

Any potential interest in this? If not, no worries. I'll lob it in the barn and try and attend to the cosmetics over time.

Bub said that it drives lovely and sips diesel :)

I can confirm it's a beautiful ride sat in the passenger seat! Although if bub offers to leave a cd or 2 in it, politely decline... (he keeps the good music on his phone)

And yes, sips fuel. £10 for a round trip from Derby to cov and back. Does get out accelerated by fiesta 1.4's being driven like a twat by a child though... (we decided to leave him well alone, mainly because his bonnet wasn't latched down!)

It does day to day not trying g to be overly economicical approx 95 mile to a tenner. A bit better on a long run. Do have to watch has the speedo though as it is quite quick for a 90bhp diesel especially on the motorway. Yes I could have had the fiesta but don't drive like a loony and I half expected his bonnet to pop up!

I think we did the right thing by leaving him to have a bonnet issue further up the road! He was blatently wringing that thing to within an inch of its life too!

That Berlingo on the other hand, that wasn't on!

re; the Y10

When I insured it, I was asked if it was registered in my name,

I replied, 'it will be'.

& that was that, no more questions, no checks.

See. That's not lying either barefoot is it? And beko I can't even speak of that damn berlingo

Any potential trusted shitters interested in taking the first step :)

Posted

I would but  don't have any need for another car right now with 3 on the go, I would be interested in the 2nd or 3rd go depending it the Alfa passes its test in Jan, I used to get silly mpg from mine, and had a ready supply of veg, so it cost me less than 5p/mile.

Blingos are proper quick m8  ;)

It is with Bub at the moment but will be at the barn in Essex shortly. The Golf is in Edmonton.

Sadly no tow bar on either of 'em.

I'm having a motor more suitable. (Read towbar and a bit more legroom in the back) so ken is having it back. The Audi really is a storming car for what it is
