robinmasters Posted June 25, 2016 Posted June 25, 2016 Not something I do regularly, so excuse any procedural faux pas on my part. Firstly, a warning. This thread may contain a Bangernomics/end of life car (specifically a model which has been done to death on this forum), so those of a sensitive nature should look away now. spartacus Posted June 25, 2016 Posted June 25, 2016 Any clues on where from? How heavily armed are you, tools, tow rope and jump pack, or just a lucky rabbits foot?
BorniteIdentity Posted June 25, 2016 Posted June 25, 2016 Lucky boy. I've made three train journeys this week;two on very grim class 317 trains. On the flip side, it made sitting in a 34 year old Ford Sierra seem appealing. spike60, purplebargeken, Urko and 1 other 4

DSdriver Posted June 25, 2016 Posted June 25, 2016 Is it an XM or a Xsara - they all look the same to me despite owning the former?
UltraWomble Posted June 25, 2016 Posted June 25, 2016 Oh bad luck is an X-auntieHere is a picture of Philip Schofield's bottom
robinmasters Posted June 25, 2016 Author Posted June 25, 2016 Vendor's house (I couldn't discretely take a picture): There was a second Xantia in the drive today, and another in the road. The one I bought appeared to be the best of the four! It's a 2.1 TD DESIRE. I haven't noticed anything even remotely erotic about it yet though. Air con, no sunroof. Electric Windows. Sensibly sized alloys. It's got the part-alcantara interior, which has worn through on the drivers seat (they all do that, sir), not sure how bad it is as I haven't taken the covers off yet. It's just had the cam belt and auxiliary belt changed, strut tops have been off and are fine, the only issue is the comedically bad 'repairs' to the rear arches. No sign of rust coming through on the door shuts though, so nothing to worry about. Came with a set of roof bars. My (poor) recollection of an HDi estate I had is that this drives fairly similarly, though this one is a lot tighter-the HDi had done many, many more miles. This has done 94k. robinmasters Posted June 25, 2016 Author Posted June 25, 2016 There was a 'possible sticking caliper' noise the way home. None the wheels were hot though. Just checked the wheel nuts, all ok apart from the offside rear-all for weren't much more than finger tight. Didn't Vugalour have a similar issue when he bought the white one? Also, stupid question-what does it mean if red AND green lights are on on the immobiliser keypad, and it starts without a code? Valet mode, or fucked? If it's the latter, can I just change it?
billyboy406v6 Posted June 25, 2016 Posted June 25, 2016 Never mind the car, more pics of Sarah required !!!!!!
UmBongo Posted June 25, 2016 Posted June 25, 2016 Gordon The Gopher was much more intelligent than Pip and had bags more personality than Greene. BTW, why did ye not heed your mother's advice about never buying a French car?
burraston2006 Posted June 26, 2016 Posted June 26, 2016 I remember that number by heart as well. Yep swap shopWhy can I remember that number from 35 years ago, but I can not remember my home 'phone number? purplebargeken, Twiggy and UltraWomble 3
UltraWomble Posted June 26, 2016 Posted June 26, 2016 Im the same - 01-811-8055 but ask me what my mothers new fellas home number is and Im fucking clueless and thats only 6 numbers long. burraston2006 1
robinmasters Posted June 26, 2016 Author Posted June 26, 2016 Bin the keypad.Embarrassingly, the 'two lights on at once' was either an optical illusion or a hallucination. Neither were on, which I only realised when carrying out the keypad removal procedure. It was already disconnected. Need to get a tray off a later one to replace the redundant keypad with. Frustratingly, until a month or so ago I had one in the shed-threw it away-'I'll never have another Xantia'. Had a go at the faded bumpers (and the mirrors, side trim and door handles) today with some engine oil. They weren't that bad, but ten minutes made a world of difference.
robinmasters Posted June 26, 2016 Author Posted June 26, 2016 The interior isn't anywhere near as bad as the seat covers would suggest. There's a fag burn-sized hole in the front passenger seat, and a big (6" * 6") tear in the driver's seat. Nothing wrong with the back seats. Although it's sort of alcantara stuff, it looks like velour. tapir, mouseflakes, vulgalour and 5 others 8
