dollywobbler Posted September 4, 2016 Posted September 4, 2016 T'was David Fowler who turned the engine, not Junkman, though he did heroically suggest it. And he also suggested what size the necessary socket would have to be after measuring it with his fingers. Impressive. davidfowler2000, Junkman, anonymous user and 5 others 8
danthecapriman Posted September 4, 2016 Posted September 4, 2016 I'm glad i didn't make the effort to come to this now, knowing my recent luck i would have spontaneously combusted on the way up.Same here, though it was a bit far for me.Mind you the Mercury would've fit in well with it's current lack of reliability and refusal to start! Maybe next year. AMC Rebel 1
sporty-shite Posted September 4, 2016 Posted September 4, 2016 Was good to catch up with shiters again. Also apologies if I din't say hello, I didn't actually realise we had a good chunk of the row behind as well. I only took a couple of pictures, so here they are Pure class Lovely Jensen Lovely Japanese Load Lugger And finally, this genuine barn fins stashed on a trailer. Ghosty Posted September 4, 2016 Posted September 4, 2016 I believe that Crown wagon belongs to an occasional poster on here, or someone he knows. A few cars down from it was a blue Corolla estate that brownnova and I both seemed to remember there being a post about. He has a Celica Sunchaser IIRC? Junkman and KruJoe 2
Junkman Posted September 4, 2016 Posted September 4, 2016 ...with which Herr Junk turned the crank pulley, and therefore the crank, a few degrees, enough to find good teeth for the starter to mesh with... It was actually Mr Yellow Bus, not Mr Yellow Trousers, who turned the crank in the end.I merely checked which size nut is required. Edit: Wobbler of all Dollies beat me to it. eddyramrod and davidfowler2000 2

It belonged to an old geezer last year, I hope he hasn't carked it. The occasional poster you're thinking of will be ifc63, who seemed to be kind of in charge of the Toyota stand last year. They were a great bunch of lads, much better than the mardy Vauxhall lot that couldn't bear to be beside us. chaseracer, Junkman and KruJoe 3

I think he's the spares specialist for the Toyota Enthusiasts Club, and he is indeed, a really great fella. KruJoe 1
KruJoe Posted September 4, 2016 Posted September 4, 2016 It is still in the hands of old Sid'n'Doris. I recognised them today from a good chin-wag I had a couple years back. They were just clambering aboard to leave as I left. sporty-shite, vulgalour, DodgyBastard and 5 others 8

Tatton Park 2014: DSCF0831 by max_burton, on Flickr After snapping me in my Sunchaser in Buxton a while ago I don't know if you're stalking me Ghosty but that's the Celica I drive to the local shows with it's owner Colin. He's 89 this year and poor eyesight has meant he hasn't driven for 4 years. I collect a friend of mine in my car and then pick the old boy and his car up. If you'd looked a bit further back on the stand you would have seen my Corolla in all it's metallic beige glory proudly displaying it's new Autoshite sticker. Surprisingly only one club member (or rather his wife) noticed the sticker and asked if it was the supplying dealer !! Twiggy and Richard 2

chaseracer Posted September 5, 2016 Posted September 5, 2016 Wow, you mean you weren't stuck in the far corner of a separate field this time? How many other clubs refused to be next to us? Twiggy Posted September 5, 2016 Posted September 5, 2016 Excellent ! Everybody clearly had a grand time then ! And thank you to all the posters and their brilliant photographs which made it feel like I was actually there. What I really want to know is what has happenned to the tasteful AUTOSHITE banner ? ? ? johngarty 1
chaseracer Posted September 5, 2016 Posted September 5, 2016 ...what has happenned to the tasteful AUTOSHITE banner ? ? ? This was the subject of much discussion yesterday. The loftiest member of Scotoshite has undertaken procurement responsibility for a replacement, as well as T-shirts on a theme of beige with stripes in AS colours. Suitable crowdfunding solutions will be devised. We'll get that Acclaim to 'Best in Show' next year... Twiggy, davidfowler2000, brownnova and 1 other 4
oldcars Posted September 5, 2016 Posted September 5, 2016 It's been bloody farcical. An hour spent trying to rescue my 600 after it tried jumping off the towing dolly. Chassis rail bent, possible sill damage too. Less than ideal. that's a fecking joke, hope you can get it fixed. AA must be liable for the damage i would hope.
davidfowler2000 Posted September 5, 2016 Posted September 5, 2016 ^ This. The judges refuse to besmirch their eyeballs by even looking at our cars. That's the best thing about Chumley, irritating the commentator bloke. At this point last year he was calling the assembled crowd a bunch of useless lazy bastards (I'm paraphrasing slightly) for not having enough entries in the commercials section, when the invitation specifically said no commercials...The no commercials thing pissed me off last year 'cos I ended up doing Chumly in a day, from Glasgow, after 5 hours sleep, after driving a bus 440 miles the previous day from Essex. So, what with several cars not even making it to the start, so many cars FTPing that I lost count plus assorted batterings, it seem that the only vehicle not to disgrace itself was a C15 van which didn't even qualify for the event. Even by Autoshite standards this must surely be a result. Ehh. excuse me. Has my Volvo 740-C (c for camper) gone unnoticed? It did it's usual on a long trip. Ade's Xantia was pretty uneventful as well. That said it seems I am now FTPing. The death burger I had for lunch / breakfast at the show may be causing actual death. 'Twas, of course, and my unreserved apogolies to that splendid personage. Also unreserved gratitude. "Splendid personage". LOVE IT! eddyramrod, Skizzer, cms206 and 2 others 5
davidfowler2000 Posted September 5, 2016 Posted September 5, 2016 Are the others of SVM home yet? Yeah. I got home about 2330. Think the others were nearer 0100 seeing as Ade followed Andy to Barrhead to procure a replacement vehicle so that WOMAN_CMS could be transported to work in relative reliability the next morning. Took longer than normal to get home with me losing the other 2 through Northwich following signs for the M6 and them following GPS then me taking an emergency pit stop at Lymm. Caught up at Charnock to find the wheel off the 205 which we quickly diagnosed the disc / drive shaft / brake caliper as fucked and unfixable but still roadable for a 200 mile limp home. Then we had KFC. KruJoe and Squire_Dawson 2
dollywobbler Posted September 5, 2016 Posted September 5, 2016 That said it seems I am now FTPing. The death burger I had for lunch / breakfast at the show may be causing actual death. I'm not feeling too great myself, and I only risked a bacon sandwich. Mind you, petrol station dinner on the way home, eaten while angry at dolly fiasco probably didn't help. The second AA man gave me an actual apple to munch. I was very grateful. An actual healthy!
Felly Magic Posted September 5, 2016 Posted September 5, 2016 I bet you are feckin livid DW, does sound sadly that the 600 is a write off. The AA need to be kissing some serious booty now, and should cough up for the damage they caused
