Ventured forth to the delights of Bridport to collect above wonderousness. No pez / Woolard shots due to time constraints, but pics tell all.
Trip back was fairly uneventful, only interrupted by a small fire in the heater motor department. Handles well, not too jarring considering it's been lowered.
The front discs are as warped as Saville, the speedo doesn't work, and the aforementioned heater motor needs a good looking at.
MOT Tuesday......it will obviously fail catastrophically..........post-2866-0-76989000-1464282257_thumb.jpgpost-2866-0-73326000-1464282277_thumb.jpgpost-2866-0-17268200-1464282293_thumb.jpgpost-2866-0-38961800-1464282310_thumb.jpgpost-2866-0-47718700-1464282327_thumb.jpg

If cooling seems marginal it might be because all of the ducting infront of the radiator has vanished - good luck with the MOT!

I like that, but then I am a bit of a closet pineapplist!!!

Posted

Very nice. I like these but they all seem to end up 'pinappled'. Are you going to restore original ride height?

Posted

I really like that, when I lived in Cornwall in the late nineties these were a top car to have, I ran a 1.6 for a while and it was much admired.

I probably shouldn't admit it on here but I liked a lowered car, so that aspect wouldn't bother me. I agree with sornme, it'll probably run at the correct temperature with the ducting to the rad, it's huge.

Has rad and stuff been moved back or is that normal ? Nice car mind.

Interesting seat choice, are they from an Alfa or something?  Be interested to see how this one develops, has the potential to be a smart lightly-modified estate or a lovely stock wardrobe on wheels.

Alfa seats, eleventy out of ten Mr Lour........................Plans are to leave the ride height as it is, but invest in some slightly taller wheel tyre combo,,,,the ride is fine, not too jarring.

As for the rest, if all goes to plan, sort out the bodywork, tidy up the interior, and sell it at a massive loss.......................6 months before a B2 Passat appears in a major TV series, and prices quadruple overnight...................

I've not seen one of these on the road for what must be a good 20 odd years?

I wonder what possessed a previous owner to stick one with the wrong logo on?

It did look good on those red alloys I must admit and I'm not normally a fan of slammin cars.

Seats look nice but whats with the Audi wheel? Will be nice when you get it back to standard.

Posted

Not going back to standard, although won't be getting pineapple treatment................very mild custom look.

Poor thing needs some suspension fitting. Lowered cars are good, lowered like a twat cars are bad.

I could give that interior a good home!!

Suspension is fine, been well done with proper VAG stuff

From what I read on retro rides the suspension was done properly not just cut springs . I'd leave as is, no point on spending money if it's not bust.

A decision on what route to take with Percy has been decided, based on a load of wooden Venetian blinds......................

Pre MOT report is back........and surprisingly not too grim. Front discs and pads, one rear brake needs attention, passenger side door doesn't open, and various bulbs and various suspension boots.

In other news, the speedo doesn't work, the clutch cable needs adjusting, and I've asked them to check the cam belt.............

News from the menders, all fixed apart from hand brake cables [just been delivered QH old stock for a tenner] and a wheel cylinder, which was £7.50...........ebay does have it's uses

Should be back on the road this week sometime.for the first time in over two years, and then mild modifying will commence, no pineapples suitcases or old bikes will be involved.......................

Knowing my luck.....rancid, probably. Anyhoo, collecting this p.m. and dismantalage of various particles will commence forthwith. As prev mentioned, it's going to be woodified, but with proper stuff, not stick on fablon.

Theme will be based on pic..................floating will not be an option, though
