Station Posted May 25, 2016 Posted May 25, 2016 They have these in currently, £14.99 have had two before, but were stolen. They're really good, ideal for keeping in the car. Lacquer Peel, oldcars and myglaren 3
lisbon_road Posted May 25, 2016 Posted May 25, 2016 I think a lot of this Aldi/Lidl stuff is amongst the best of the budget tools really. oldcars 1
myglaren Posted May 25, 2016 Posted May 25, 2016 I think a lot of this Aldi/Lidl stuff is amongst the best of the budget tools really.Have to agree with that, most of their stuff is excellent for the price.
Supernaut Posted May 25, 2016 Posted May 25, 2016 Oof! That looks good. Might pop to Aldi at the weekend if I remember to.
rml2345 Posted May 25, 2016 Posted May 25, 2016 I've got a previous version of this kit and abused fuck out of it for the last few years. One of the flat headed screwdriver bits has broken due to metal fatigue but that's it.112%/10 for quality. Might buy a new one!
Noel Tidybeard Posted May 26, 2016 Posted May 26, 2016 i like the 46 pc kit where all the bits are in their own 1/4 sq holder
billyboy406v6 Posted May 26, 2016 Posted May 26, 2016 Buy a Mercedes, no need for shiny sockets sets !
Tamworthbay Posted May 26, 2016 Posted May 26, 2016 Buy a Mercedes, no need for shiny sockets sets ! is that because they won't stay shiny long due to the amount of use they will get? Lacquer Peel, billyboy406v6, Conrad D. Conelrad and 1 other 4
Kiltox Posted May 26, 2016 Posted May 26, 2016 i like the 46 pc kit where all the bits are in their own 1/4 sq holderThat's the one I have - didn't notice the difference at first
jonny69 Posted May 26, 2016 Posted May 26, 2016 The ratchet looks like it comes pre-bent. Useful feature. Station 1
alf892 Posted May 26, 2016 Posted May 26, 2016 hah!..........I went food shopping with Mrs Alf yesterday (I never go usually but birthday treat for her).......saw these and they had 52 and 46 piece sets in same bin at same price. Looked identical
burraston2006 Posted May 26, 2016 Posted May 26, 2016 is that because they won't stay shiny long due to the amount of use they will get?Nope, it's because they'll rust before your eyes!
Dick Cheeseburger Posted May 26, 2016 Posted May 26, 2016 Boughted. Cheers for the heads up. FREE YIR GAURANTEA as well, although Aldi know full well that all customers lob their receipts straight in the bin as soon as the groceries are in the cupboards.
omegod Posted May 26, 2016 Posted May 26, 2016 Boughted. Cheers for the heads up. FREE YIR GAURANTEA as well, although Aldi know full well that all customers lob their receipts straight in the bin as soon as the groceries are in the cupboards. I tape all receipts to the inside of my cupboard door, has saved me a fortune in broken 6 month old irons and microwaves Dick Cheeseburger and SiC 2
rml2345 Posted May 26, 2016 Posted May 26, 2016 Nope, it's because they'll rust before your eyes! You're right! I've only had mine five years and look at it now! WURST SOKIT SIT EVAR I lost the allen keys though.Seriously, I really rate these sets and they stand up well to all sorts of abuse as m'fellow SVM colleagues can attest. Just bought another two and that one is going into reserve as it's still perfectly functional.Their spanners are good too. Lacquer Peel and Banger Kenny 2
sierraman Posted May 26, 2016 Posted May 26, 2016 I suppose it all depends what you use them for, they'd be no good used professionally but used for DIY with care and used appropriately they might last years.
Richard Posted May 26, 2016 Posted May 26, 2016 Lidl and Aldi tools aren't the best of gear by any means, but they are miles better than Rolson/Blackspur/Silverline and most other budget tools. myglaren, 3VOM, Dick Cheeseburger and 1 other 4
fordperv Posted June 1, 2016 Posted June 1, 2016 Incase shiters arent aware these and the ratchet spanners are available on the website with free delivery at the moment click on diy special buys, i ordered some ratchet spanners earlier for mrs fp's dad for fathers day as mrs fp didn't know what to get him https://www.aldi.co.uk/specialbuys/all-specialbuys/diy/c/diy/?q=%3Apopular&page=1
Kiltox Posted June 1, 2016 Posted June 1, 2016 I give two sets of those Aldi ratchet spanners (normal and flex head) a hell of a beating and they are ace
CortinaDave Posted June 1, 2016 Posted June 1, 2016 I had one of their trolley jacks that turned to soup very quickly, that put me off buying any more of their tools. I do rate their food though.
myglaren Posted June 4, 2016 Posted June 4, 2016 Went to Aldi and completely forgot to buy a set.My shopping is very random at the best of times, go without checking what's needed and then just chuck random shite in the trolley and come home with duplicates of what we already had and huge spaces where I should have bought stuff to fill.
320touring Posted June 4, 2016 Posted June 4, 2016 bought 2 sets, one for vectra and one for 316. just as well as I needed one to bust the rear exhaust mounting bolt on the 316 when it fell off
