My Xantia HDi - Minor Electrical Question!

Yeah, you're insane. I've seen cars for sale in Devon and my immediate reaction is NOPE, just based on the sheer distance.

It's only far away if you have to cross large bodies of water.

Pah. If it doesn't have its own tidal system you're a wimp.

Says a massive wimp.

Still a fair number of tickets left!

Cheaper than a 220k mile Peugeot 405!

Posted

So how does this roffle thing work?

You take the price you want and divide by 59?  This is something to do with the lottery is it not? (I don't do it or watch it).

how do people pay for their tickets? (paypal?)

Do you loose paypal fees on each ticket you sell?

Posted

- Yes, it's whatever the bonus ball is in the next draw after everybody pays

- Yes, paypal

- No, because you do it as a 'family or friends' payment

Also, payment is only due after every number has been taken.

Posted

what if the the organiser/seller has a paypal account which is a "business" account?

Posted

Well, mine isn't, so...

I washed the genuine Buckinghamshire mud off it today (well, most of it).

If the raffle dies on its arse I'll just keep it, I guess. It's not as quick as I've gotten used to, but it does have a certain charm wafting about while listening to death metal. :D

Who needs speed when you have waft?

...and the fuel economy of a super mini.

This would tick my diesel box nicely, and I'm fed up of spine-jarring VAG suspension set ups.

A random please for a soft southerner just about as far south as you can go.

The great forum fire lost the last few posts.

Just dropping in to say this is still soldiering on, and growing on me every time I drive it!

I've still to replace the accumulator sphere, seal the hole in the left rear arch liner, and grease up the control levers on the underside, but I'm planning on doing those jobs on Saturday.

Have a photo of how I'm living the dream right now:

Part of me wants to use the remains of the 316's rear section of exhaust as a straight-through replacement for the Xantia's back box. Turbo whistle YO! However, the other stuff listed above is more of a priority, the exhaust is more of a 'for a laugh' sort of thing.

EDIT: I also just realised I've no idea how old the fuel filter on it is, so I've just reserved one at ECP. I can pick it up on the walk home from work and change it later. Looks like a piece of piss to change, just like the old XUD ones.

Remember kids, only winners roll on Steelies!

Yeah... the hammerited (badly) steelies do suit the general shabbiness of the car.

Meeeh I want some proper old-school 1990s wheel trims. Big flat things without too many spokes and stuff going on.

Posted

Stick a different centre badge on and these could do the trick.

Or there's these which look every so slightly like they've come off an early 90s caravan.

Volvo trims for very cheap, easy to change the centre badges on these I should expect.  Right sort of age and style for a Xantia.

These Citroen trims are probably a bit spokey, but they've got that sort of minimal vibe about them which means they should look smart enough.

Those caravan style items aren't bad. Did these not use a multi spoke style thing like what Picassos got at this age?

Posted

I could just stick these back on...

Given that they used citroen spheres for their suspension on some estates it is practically a Merctroen:)

I just love how much those trims annoy Lacquer Peel. :D

New fuel filter has pepped it up rather nicely.

I also put the GASH Mercedes wheel trims back on, to annoy Lacquer Peel.

Hole in left rear wheel arch plugged and siliconed, control levers copper greased, and accumulator sphere replaced!

The car now goes up and down as it should, without taking a while to think about it while ticking frantically.

Oh, I also annoyed a Porsche Cayman in it today. I was on a road I knew, he tried to overtake a couple of times and bottled it when he realised I was cornering faster than him! He flew past me on a long straight after a while, then two corners later I was right behind him again! Must be embarrassing to be put to shame by a 16yr old diesel Citroen with a boot full of tools. :D
