This is my mate's Disco van, it passed the MOT yesterday so has a year's ticket and will be going on the bay again as a classified... but thought I'd see if any shiters fancy it first.

1997, 300Tdi diesel, 5 speed manual, 215840 on the clock. Nothing special, starts first time, does about 30mpg if you take it steady. Despite looking a bit sheddy it has had a shit load of work done on it, new inner wings, boot floor, sills, battery tray etc etc - the usual Disco grot spots sorted. Advisories were anti roll bar play and frayed seatbelt. Here's what we put in the eBay ad last time -

Land Rover Discovery 300Tdi commercial (van). A good workhorse in working condition - don't expect a luxury car. Has had all the normal Discovery rust issues sorted with many new repair panels - inner wings, boot floor, battery tray, sills etc etc.

Fitted with genuine Land Rover tow bar (with electrics that work!), full inner bulkhead behind cab, heavy duty rear suspension. Spare wheel present but not fitted in pictures. Starts first time, drives OK for age, has been very reliable.

Bad points:  interior is tired but scrubs up alright.

Overall a good workhorse for someone, Tdi Disco commercials are a good all-rounder for work or Land Rover "stuff" like greenlaning.

Sold with the vehicle are four road tyres (all legal), full set of lift springs, passenger side wing with Safari snorkel, and any other Disco bits I find.

Price is £1700 which I think is fair for it, it's in Peterborough. Cab shots on route

They are brilliant.

Interestingly, that comes up as 'Not Subject to LEZ' on the London low emissions zone checker whereas a Defender hardtop of similar age would not be allowed to enter the zone. The zone covers most places inside the M25.

A commercial bodied Landy new enough to comply would be pricey, so for anyone in the unfortunate position of having to drive into Greater London (e.g. me) that's quite a selling point.

I find it strange they kept the roof windows  rather than just having an indented panel as on the sides.  Looks very Irish spec.

Through the tailgate like all other Discoverys?

I'd never even thought about this. I suppose it is a "car derived van" ?? Good info though thanks.

I've often thought that would make more sense than trying to keep a late TD5 Disco 'nice' whilst doing long jaunts with trailers and greenlining it. Disco 1s always leave me a bit nervous of bodges but one Munkie and your good self know so well, I wouldn't hesitate to jump at!

I do need 5 seats for the commute though, so ahm oot. GLWTS etc.!

Waters gets in regardless My disco leaks in through an imaginary hole somewhere between the number plates.

Please note these aren't the spare tyres that come with it...

Shouldn't the anti-roll bar be mounted further down?

Its between the wheels isn't it?

I'd call that a smart (and quiet) looking interior by Land Rover standards. Roomy in the back, too.

Just needs an 'oily-rag-fragrance' Magic Tree for the full effect.

Is that anti-roll bar in there because it's a bitch to get the bolts to line up? Mine tried my patience considerably.

Please don't any of you who might live near Peterboghorror go and look at this for me.  Several invoices have just been paid and I'm trying to convince myself I don't need a "company car"...

I'm going to click away from this quicky.

I've wanted a white Disco 3 door van for months, especially since riding to Austria and back in JohnF's 300TDI

It's in pretty good nick for an R reg van, is the best way to view it. Goes, drives and makes the same noises as 1000s of other Disco Tdis.

As you can see it has been well used but there's enough of these things being scrapped that you could easily tart it up if you were that way inclined. Probably worth it in the long run as it is pretty solid and my crystal ball predicts these are only going to trickle upward in VALU especially if you left it standard. I know my chum will take sensible offers too.

I opt for the wet dog carpet and mud fragrance in mine, makes it so much more believable.

I took both anti-roll bars off mine. Makes no difference on the road (not that I can tell anyway) but it does make a difference off road, more articulation of the axles. :D
