WARNING. MUCH PICTURES. VERY PHOTOBUCKET. WOW. WILL MOST LIKELY BUM YOUR WEB BROWSER TO DEATH.

So the show season is upon us and all my cars are fucked. Nice.

Hopped in the Honda this morning and popped to Buckie to see how the, well publicised, "Summer show" was going to be. Last year there were gale force winds, heavy rain and sub-zero temps, this year was far more summery with overcast skies and light rain making the entire thing feel very Scottish. Wish I had a convertible to fully enjoy it.

Here is a sample of the cars on show:

Firstly some very old cars which looked pretty but are probably a bit naff to drive.

DSC_0442%20Copy.jpg

Unmolested Mini, worth billions.

DSC_0444%20Copy.jpg

Mint 28,000 mile Maxi. Going into storage soon so it doesn't top 30k.

DSC_0445%20Copy.jpg

Old skool Ford. Belongs to the father of somebody I work with. Minty, never welded.

DSC_0446%20Copy.jpg

Is there life on maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaars?

DSC_0447%20Copy.jpg

Proper Yorkshire car, built to last.

DSC_0455%20Copy.jpg

Triumph 2000, love these.

DSC_0456%20Copy.jpg

Fancy Minx, Humber Sceptre edition. Owner has a scruffy Dolly Sprint and likes to go fast, he's ditched it twice since I saw him last year!

DSC_0457%20Copy.jpg

Daaaaaaw, it's a kitten!

DSC_0458%20Copy.jpg

DSC_0463%20Copy.jpg
DSC_0464%20Copy.jpg

Rapier, not keen on the wheels.

DSC_0475%20Copy.jpg

DSC_0478%20Copy.jpg

Carlton, with Lotus bits.

DSC_0484%20Copy.jpg

Herald 13/60. I want it.

DSC_0487%20Copy.jpg

A brace of Tigers. These belong to the owner of a local garage and he keeps them in the showroom.

DSC_0488%20Copy.jpg

Nice car, shit wheels.

DSC_0492%20Copy.jpg

This was really rather low...

DSC_0495%20Copy.jpg

So was this.

DSC_0480%20Copy.jpg

Fugly Vauxhall.

DSC_0497%20Copy.jpg

The people who arrived in this looked EXACTLY like the sort of people who'd own this. Harris tweeded up to the hilt and all with a matching Labrador... Very much the lord and lady of the land.

DSC_0500%20Copy.jpg

Ooooooooooooooooft. GT6.

DSC_0502%20Copy.jpg
DSC_0521%20Copy.jpg

106 Ralle. I thought it was cool, but I am of the Need for Speed generation...

DSC_0516%20Copy.jpg

This was parked outside the show, bit of a beast.

While at the show the owner of the Golf convertible mentioned that today's show clashed with a show in Forres, about 25 miles further down the road. I figured I'd pop over there as well, what with me being in the might Civic of boredom and all. On the way I passed quite a few high end motors going the opposite way, an old Bentley, 80s Ferrari, orange Mini with ladybug spots, etc.

I arrived and was greeted and a proper shite Jag in shite colour scheme.

DSC_0529%20Copy.jpg

Then this fucking thing which looked hilariously deadly.

DSC_0531%20Copy.jpg
DSC_0532%20Copy.jpg

Adorable Austin 7.

DSC_0583%20Copy.jpg

The MX-5 owners club had taken the high ground, presumably ready to charge and mow down lesser cars.

The woman with the Cavalier and her husband are show stalwarts. I remember taking a picture of the Cavalier in Elgin and ignoring her husband's Mercedes SL. They have a nice Cavalier coupe as well if I remember correctly.

Great photos, I was doing nothing today, I should have popped through to Forres.

edit: here's the Cavalier couple

Ah, I've seen the Coupe before as well. I also ignored an Mercedes SL at Forres, probably the same one!

Good effort, a good spread (ooer) of cars. I can even see the appeal of Novas.

Aye it is. He mentioned having a Mk3 about 5 years ago, gone down to England now I think.

That blue coupe was for sale in a garage in town for ages.I looked at it, I even had tge money but didn't buy it as I think I was going through one of my "I hate old cars" periods. It wasn't mega expensive either.

Are you from Badenoch, or Aviemore? Assuming they taught at Kingussie.

I'll probably turn up, it's only 5 mins up the road. Whether I'll have a car to show or want to pay the entry fee is another matter.

Loads more cars at Buckie than there was last year, the last August show I went to was a bit pants in comparison. I don't think that having to pay to display your car is doing it much good when the Summer Show is free...

I've actually missed quite a few deadlines for applying for shows so may well just not bother at all this year, my cars look crap anyway!

Marilyn Scott was a PE teacher at Kingussie High and is very active in the Cavalier and Chevette Club along with her husband Colin. The description under the picture of her Cavalier (been in the family since new) made me smile and I could imagine her response to being described as a 'little old lady'........

That Mk1 Cortina, EHW257C struck me as similar to a car that someone on one of the car forums was looking for. Can't find the thread now, but it was a green mk1 cortina that had ended up as an orange scalextric themed car.

orange Mini with ladybug spots, etc.

Did Andrew Wright get in touch? That was him and Cress in the Mini, and he asked me for your number. There's a picture of that Mini outside your house gates...

GLS versions of the Avenger and Viva are both very nice. Amazing how a set of Rostyle wheels, extra chrome and twin headlights lift their appearance.

Posted

Great photos. I've seriously got the horn for a GT6 at the moment. These photos aren't helping.

Aaaah, I though it might have been the same car. I sent him a message on another car forum t'other day asking if Cress was in Scotland but I don't think he's been online yet!
