Urko Posted April 1, 2016 Posted April 1, 2016 So the one remaining "daily" - disco 3 has thrown up a suspension warning light. No worries I thought, I will take it to the Land Rover place next week. Pop out to the co-op and the ride seems very bouncy - the front looks as if it has been lowered by some barry. Internet says the next thing will be the red warning with it on the bump stops and 30mph max. Needless to say I have a full weekend planned involving my daughter (who's mum has banned her from riding in the AMC on safety grounds) A quick trawl of local chod merchants turned up a 1.4 306 for 500 sheets and and a 2.3 Passtit for 795. What do you think the chances of buying a car in the three hours I've got before I pick daughter up are likely to be?

red5 Posted April 1, 2016 Posted April 1, 2016 Indeed. Got a couple of motahs knocking round - depends on location though.
Urko Posted April 1, 2016 Author Posted April 1, 2016 Sorry - I meant the three hours in the morning between 9 and noon - what a dolt I am ! Iam a bit flustered as I am having a birthday party for her at my joint (she's 8 ) with family coming round. Trying to buy a car in the morning's a shit idea isn't it? I should just beg a lift off someone or hope the disco doesn't shit the bed totally...
vulgalour Posted April 1, 2016 Posted April 1, 2016 If you use the Disco when you need it to not crap out, it will crap out. If you use it when crapping out isn't a problem, it will be fine. myglaren and Urko 2
For Fiats Sake Posted April 1, 2016 Posted April 1, 2016 Aren't any dealers doing the 48hr test drive at the mo? Tamworthbay, myglaren, Pete-M and 1 other 4
Dave_Q Posted April 1, 2016 Posted April 1, 2016 STONE COLD WINNER WAGON If the seller is right and you can find a WAZ to sell the plate to, the car will cost just £45! Urko and Lacquer Peel 2
Urko Posted April 1, 2016 Author Posted April 1, 2016 Thanks Dave - seller emailed, fingers crossed. Always fancied a go on one of these - went to look at them when they came out.
andy18s Posted April 1, 2016 Posted April 1, 2016 As for the Disco, check the brake lights are workingWe had a similar problem where the 3 Amigos appeared on the dashSpecial programs turned off, suspension lowered and something somethingTurned out the brake light switch (on the pedal) had partially failed, causing the canbus system to go into "Special Landrover Spaze Out Mode"Or,a burst airbag.... myglaren 1

If so as a stop gap inflate to ride height then open bonnet and remove fuse 26 this will power down air suspension and it will stay at ride height .... just ignore red light and youll be ok and comfy till techs look at it. Leave it on bump stops tho and the regularly fuck ball joints and rip air bags ... Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk Urko 1
Urko Posted April 1, 2016 Author Posted April 1, 2016 Cheers - brake lights checked and working - thinking about it, it has been "settling" overnight for a while, like my old BXs
robthedonkey Posted April 1, 2016 Posted April 1, 2016 Itll normally be a leak that causes it but if it inflates this will work ... i did 3 k with fuse out before mine went in part ex .... i mean got repaired ...... Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk Urko 1
Urko Posted April 1, 2016 Author Posted April 1, 2016 I don't think the front of the disco is raising as far as it should (rear is fine). T'internet says it's the front control valve, but I'm not touching it as I always make stuff worse. At present I only have yellow light, no special progs, and a message that says "suspension fault normal height only"
andy18s Posted April 1, 2016 Posted April 1, 2016 At least the bags are so much easier to swap than a broken spring, and not too expensive either.. Urko 1
Urko Posted April 1, 2016 Author Posted April 1, 2016 In fact I am not sure the front's coming off the bump stops anymore. Bastard thing was fine at lunchtime.
Urko Posted April 1, 2016 Author Posted April 1, 2016 Off to bed - sincere tbanks to all for the suggestions (on here and via pm) this place rules etc.
Urko Posted April 2, 2016 Author Posted April 2, 2016 Ok went to look at a 306 - body not bad - actually pretty darn good, ran ok. 12 months mot with illegal rear tyre and both badly perished. Rear suspension didn't move up or down. Decided against on the basis I didn't trust rhe MOT. The seller of that Rover replied but he's away until monday so that's out.
The Reverend Bluejeans Posted April 2, 2016 Posted April 2, 2016 Hire car. New, won't shag itself 4 miles down the road (all sales r final m8), give it back later. carlo 1
chatsharris Posted April 2, 2016 Posted April 2, 2016 I think hire car is the smarter option if you only need it for a couple of days, then you haven't got another car sat around. myglaren 1
Urko Posted April 2, 2016 Author Posted April 2, 2016 Even better, my kind sister has lent me her car. Tamworthbay, myglaren and andrew e 3
Urko Posted April 4, 2016 Author Posted April 4, 2016 Well, after giving it the weekend off, the bastard Disco wouldn't pump up at all this morning, so bouncing down the road to the garage was interesting - the ride was nearly as bad as the ALDI A3 I had. As well as asking my Stepdad about his broken Signum, I am in touch with someone locally who has a rusty but operational Ford Puma for sale for 300 sheets, because anyone knows the best solution to having 5 cars that don't work is to buy some more. hairymel, stripped fred, For Fiats Sake and 1 other 4
andy18s Posted April 4, 2016 Posted April 4, 2016 Whereabouts are you?I've got a cheap 94 Rover 214 for sale....in N Staffs Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk
Urko Posted April 4, 2016 Author Posted April 4, 2016 Loughborough, Leics. I was born in staffs though
Six-cylinder Posted April 4, 2016 Posted April 4, 2016 If you need a car for a week or two while the Disco is sorted my 1990 Volvo 740GLE Auto is not doing much. It is based in Buckingham, MOTed, taxed and insured but only for me so you would have to drive it on your own 3rd party insurance. I could drive up to you but you would have to take me home, then no rush to return the car. Urko, The Moog and Barry Cade 3
Urko Posted April 4, 2016 Author Posted April 4, 2016 Thanks, I am hoping the disco gets done quicker than that as I am paying someone The local Puma could be a good stop-gap if I can get them to ring me back - call me lazy, but it's somwewhere in about a mile radius. It would have the added bonus (in theory) of being cheap to run at least until the MOT runs out in Sept., which would save me piling miles on the Disco. PS that's a lovely looking Volvo.
