Modern Italians 1: New Tipo

ALL UR MODERNS R SHITE @1986 BLOB WOULDNT CATCH ME NOT AE86.

With that over, possibly future shite in the making, for those interested this what FIAT will be thrusting on us shortly - no digital dashes spied sadly. Well proportioned like a current 308, and quite huge inside. Realistically no advance over the Marea I had 17 years ago however.... Note the €11999 stickered one I spied - is this Italodacia? A bit scratchy plastic inside, but a real looker in the flesh - see what you think:

I genuinely can't see the difference between that and a modern Astra/ Focus/ Peugeot etc. Why do they all have to look identical. So boring.

Nah that looks too heavy like a modern Hyundia Amica, this is more Alfa 147

I'd say this is a good guess, the Tipo will be made in Turkey and it looks like it could be a warming over of the Linea which has been selling in India and South America for a few years.

Definite future shite - it's the Fiat law.

No it's Italotofas, proper name is the Fiat Egea.

I quite like that grille.  Seems a bit Buick.

I do love a bit of

Saloons look so much better than the hatches don't they, even in moderns.  Shame the idiot British population can't get the hang of them.

Er NO. Can you get a bike into the boot of a saloon?

I've read that FIAT are to confuse things by creating premium lines like the 500L/XL range and a boggo standard line with the Panda, Tipo and whatever else they drag up from the depths of their name catalogue.

Personally I wish they'd sold the 3 door new Uno in europe instead of just South America.

Probably wouldn't pass modern emissions or ncap but who gives a damn - neither do the rest of the fleet!

3 door new Uno? That's a Panda with a lift kit.

Something we won't get at as long as the 500 exists.

Should have gone even further back in time and launched it with its project code number as the model name - although 'Fiat 356' doesn't trip off the tongue like 126 or 127 I suppose.

Yes needs more MirafiorI type naming content.

Although on that lines it should be Fiat Bursa

I would love it if Fiat brought out Nuova Uno as Fiat AutobianchiPrimula in awe of their 1960s advanced contraption

Think its the safety regulations for both passengers and pedestrians isn't it. Its like F1 cars all having to adhere to the same rules meaning all the cars look almost identical, not like in the old days where they strapped on wings with cable ties etc.

Conservatively styled, but looks as smart or more so than other makers' efforts.
