New mobile skin but work in progress

Those profile pics are a bit big on the mobile site. It takes up a lot of room on the small screen.

Edit: it went back to normal* when I went back to the mobile site from the full one, has there been some work?

Hi looks good-one question though-o

where is the "new content" button on the mobile site?

Ta muchly

I find tapping the small star tobthe left of the thread title works, but not sure Im keen on the mobile layout. There are some good bits though, uploading without having to switch to desktop is good

With due respect to your obvious time and effort, it currently looks and runs like a bag of shite both on mobile amd desktop. Soz for being a luddite but I think it was absolutely fine before - clear and easy to use with no fuss.

If it could basically be the same as before but with a mobile upload function that would be perfect!

Something's gone a bit pete tong on iPad + Chrome... It thinks I'm using a phone so everything's mahoosive. Ignores "request desktop site" option. Was OK-ish yesterday.

This is the first time I've seen the new mobile version. Seems a lot better than the original bar the loss of default to last post (or first unseen post I think) in thread. I'm also getting a bug in some threads where it opens with really tiny text on a wide page. Second page will then be fine.

Cheers Dave, sorry I hate to be even be the least bit negative, but...

The pics don't show in fullscreen anymore. They are all showing up as thumbnails. Thus ruining the "Cars n girls" thread browsing experience on me Android phone with chrome. Also the edit screen only displays half-screen in portrait, but is OK in landscape.

Otherwise it's ace.

Going to have another stab at this over weekend.

Including more "autoshite" colour scheme.

On iPad, it's mahoosive as it defaults to mobile site, but if I scroll to the bottom and click "full site" it's ok

Sorry to report negative stuff, but this is the first time I've used the mobile site properly for a week or so, - Android default web browser - and I'm finding that I'm not going to the first unread post on a thread but the first post, which is ok-ish if the thread's new but for the 6 biggest ones (eBay tat, grin/grump, news, one picture, and cats & girls) it can mean missing a lot of content.

Any chance of putting an "Autoshite" button at the bottom of the page too, so that we don't have to scroll back up to the top to get back to the main forum? The lazy bones in me would like that very much!

Is there anyway to get the PM, user and notification pages to resize automatically for iOS?

Having to scroll left and right and up and down at the moment.

Posted

Also, any way to get pics auto sizing in threads on iOS?

They're tiny at the moment.

I don't want to sound like a whiney shitehole, but mobile is a bit of a pita to use at the moment on iOS.

My findings only.

I'm quite liking the new mobile site. Just one thing, the notifications don't seem to clear once you have seen them.

Must remember to donate again soon.

Do you get enough funding through voluntary donation or do we need to press gang people?

Maybe a £10 roffle prize tax?!

Can we have the old theme back, in beige, with photo upload?

Because the new one really isn't helpful. When first landing on the AS page the first thing to do is to scroll past all the garage pics, select Autoshite, ignore the notifications that won't clear, then look for new content. Click on - for example - the antidote to grumpy thread and it's then a case of having to fast forward through 5 years of posts. Clicking "read all" doesn't actually help as next site visit and they're all unread again.

The old "new content" button bypassed all this shit. It's like the site has been transformed from a working Renault 18 Turbo into a misfiring Laguna II V6 with a dodgy key card.

Also, the PM pop-up isn't helpful, it is bloody difficult to close and uses up data. The old button at the top used to be great and enough to be getting on with.

Please can you make it so that it remembers your choice to have the "Full Version"?

The mobile skin is awful on the iPad: the text is ginormous. You have to scroll all the way to the bottom and select "Full version" to restore a sensible layout, and you have to do that every time you visit.

Sorry, but I detest mobile versions of web sites with a passion. Modern devices with high resolution screens simply don't need a special version of the web site. The whole point is that they are more than capable of browsing the real, proper internet rather than some cut-down thing.

Funnily enough, I really liked the old mobile version - my only grumble about it was that links in the eBay thread that opened when you clicked on the picture didn't work. Other than that, I'd have used it on the pc too.

My old mobile version was blue. This is better and will be more so with tweaks.

This and what m'coli says please. The old mobile site may not have been the best for all things but it was clean easy to use/read and if you needed anything else you could always switch to the full site.

This one new one just isn't as easy to use with its little drop down to quote and it not going to the last red post just makes it more fiddly and slower.

Thanks for the efforts. The old one was pretty restrictive so once all working, a new one is definitely a good idea.

Ive worked oit how to get the old mobile version back. Go right to the end of the page and choose 'full site' or similar option. Refreshes into desktop mode. Back to the bottom, select 'mobile site' and it refreshes back to the old mobile view!

Posted

It keeps going to full version. Which is not too annoying. It's like tapping the dashboard to get the illumination.

Mike only went to change the oil and filter and now the head's off.

Flipping grand work as far as I'm concerned, trial and error is the only way to go as everyone knows.

I employ the same approach to cars as I do to this Forum, as long as it starts, it is acceptable!

No mobile site now it seems? I'm just getting the full version on my iPhone. Which is unwieldy as I need to constantly keep zooming in to open stuff, read things etc.

Also no longer able to go to the last content in a post after I had figured out how to do it on the last mobile skin.

Can't we just have the old one back? I really don't see what was wrong with it to be fair. It goes against the Autoshite ethos really - it's like trading a 3 year old car in for a brand new one when there's bugger all wrong with the one you're moving on!

Mine started up in the old mobile environment this morning, but everything is grayscale.

I quite like it though

I had grayscale too but doing the "Full Site - Mobile Site" trick restores blue.

Good thing as I thought I'd lost colour and become a dog or something.
