I look quite the shady character in that photo

Which one?

And quote of the day " oohh isn't this car posh".

As Bub pointed out only a certain kind of person can think a 190k ropey old diesel estate is a posh car.

Revels?

A chap has to celebrate his first collection in style.

Puddlethumper hasn't ever taken part in an AS collection before. I think he quite enjoyed it.

Things to learn today

Wait until it is warmer and less windy to apply sticky things

Yes I know it isn't centred but will do for me.

It's got a few creases and if I can be arsed I will get a new one later on in year.

Puddle thumper was mildly confused at how the climate control worked and bewildered by the fuel filler flap!

My excuse is a 305 van, so stuff like that is unknown to me and is therefore confusing and posh.

Isn't that in the wrong, the later Charles Wright font?

Probably.... That sort of thing doesn't bother me. I choose the first reflective stick on numberplate on eBay.

It never used to bother me either until I started coming on here.

Now I have sleepless nights, spend ludicrous amounts of money on replacement plates,

I am embarrassed about not replacing them on everything I own

and I spot them everywhere I turn....

This place etc.

So done a couple of hundred miles in the roffle 406 and fallen in love with it.

Reminds me of my 405s if a bit more wafty. The 2.1 is a nice engine and potentially should be better mpgs on motorway.

I think that this plus a track car is the way forward .

Currently it needs:

Good clean inside and out

Better tyres

New dampers all round

Something to get rid of fag smell

Bulbs in most of the displays

Air filter and oil filter changing

Investigate the rough idle

Replace steering wheel as it has flat spots from wear

See if can get multi function display to work

Tint rear windows

Handbrake adjusting

Longer term:

Sill welding up

Check and fix brakes plus fluid

See if can get sunroof to work

Replace key fob cases

Replace rear wiper

Overall I think I could spend £400 and have a keeper.
