Of course all Volkswagens don't rust. After discovering that my bumper brackets were virtually non-existent, this is what I saw down the front chassis legs. I am currently having a weldathon sorting this out.

These was what was left of my bumper brackets after a struggle to remove them as the captive nuts were no longer captive.

 

 

I was unpleasantly surprised by this discovery. I had to order replacements from Germany and they weren't cheap.

99 disco 300tdi 'crunchy nut' drivers cab sill - previous owner had solidified the layered rust matter with resin/underseal n thick paint... took a week to weld up using t 'bish-bash-bosh' approach (as its my daily)/ flat 1.2 Zintec sheet /home made bent sill...
