what did the Lotus go for (by which I mean the brown smelly looking one)?

That w126 500 was winking at me. Good job I've just bought one stupid car or that would've been coming home with me...

I bid on this

I won it at £325 but it was provisionally sold until they called the seller and they wanted £450. I walked away empty handed thankfully....

Mike (Nisfan) bid on this.

And won it for £725. With fees added and the cost of transporting it home it came to £900 which is still a good bit off what he was willing to spend. Overall a good result.

I had to work this morning at short notice so didn't make it along... Leyland Tiger to finish preparing for test on Monday and I had to go to the delightful garden suburb of Glenmavis to collect a coach. I will get along to one of these soon...

Nah, I deliberately didn't register to stop me buying something... The big Merc went for £1900 ish but don't think it hit reserve. It did look a fairly tidy honest old thing, if I hadn't bought the tiny racecar it would have been a contender. Although I did have my girlfriend thinking I was bringing something home.

As I want a dog too this is a tactic I may have to employ again in the future...

The Lotus did look quite cool, fuck knows what it was actually like underneath though.

Only managed a quick nosey as I had mental toddlers to chase round (one of which tried to bid 7 grand on a Subaru!) Will need to come on my own next time. I'll probably still bring quavers though

Aye, it went for £11k IIRC.

Can't quite rememver the exact figure on the 240 Torslanda but it was expensive. Missed the Montego unfortunately but would be intetested to know what it did.

*EDIT*

Values provided by Drum.

Posted

The Torslanda made 2650 and the montego 250. The monty was rotten.

That's strong money isn't it! I'm guessing it was something special to be that price?. Also (sorry i keep asking) what did the Mk3 Cortina make if you can remember?.

Most hammer prices are in photos. Some with question marks are provisional and most with pound signs are actually sold.

Wow! That's a really high price for a Mk3!

Wasn't there stories around it being the oldest one left or something and recently featured in a Ford magazine.

Posted

It was listed as the oldest one left but the auction house got so many messages telling them it wasn't that they had to change the listing.

Good news on the Laurel purchase! Certainly sounds like a good price for it.

Posted

I noticed before buying the laurel that the front lights are not what it should have (i think) i cannot see any other uk laurels with these lights but plenty foreign ones??

The grill is a proper uk one but doesnt fit perfectly with the lights. Previous owner was oblivious to this.
Not too fussed just find it a bit intriguing.

Odd. I can't immediately find any photos I have of UK models with that type. Wonder if there was a problem buying OE replacements at some point in the past?

I haven't enjoyed myself like this in friggin DECADES!

The warmth of the welcome the Schotoshite Massive manages to muster is way beyond anything I could have possibly imagined beforehand.

Englishmen, listen to me. You are missing out. Trust me on that.

Next time, I'll book myself a cosy B&B and suggest afters, until an appropriate level of intoxination has been reached.

This was bloody brilliant. The whole endeavour today was an experience not to be missed.

I cannot possibly thank you lot as much as I would deem adequate.

Thank you all! Thank you so much!

That's the lamest excuse I've read ever.
