As an aside I think N plates rank as the lowest spotted of all the plates I've ever seen. Tons of M, tons of P, r & s but few N's. Did something funny go on that year?

Sierraman will know more, but they don't have the best reputation, but I think it's more from an age perspective - and autos are fairly thin among the survivors.

I think that my Mk2 auto was the longest lived Mondeo on my fleet. It survived at least five years after I sold it.

The 3 door estate made it to the NEC (not my pic - owner's).

Agreed, here's an N reg that i snapped was back in 2017, now scrapped i think and the local N reg Estate outside a hoarders house, i think this disappeared during COVID

I don’t know, the earlier 1993-4 ones seemed better made than the later ones. The diesels will always be thin on the ground as they were mostly worked to death.

No December rest for mine this year. Speedo cable getting noisy, that's what I think it is anyway! On a tip run.

Currently in discussion with the owner of this turd of a late mk1 on a P plate. Unsurprisingly didn't get a bid on ebay with no ticket and it's a proper shed. I've mentioned £300 as a bit of a punt to save it as I really like the estates but not autos and he seemed interested. Done no miles since it's last test and might be genuine giffer. It's down in London area (Harrow)

Probably worse ways of spending £300!

No utter MOT horrors, other than what you'd expect really, and I imagine this is a tough sell 3 weeks before Christmas.

I can honestly say that I've never seen an auto that didn't have the 2.0 engine. Not just in real life but also listed on the salvage sites I used to scour over everyday back in the mid 2000s. I can't imagine that it'd be either cheap or easy to get a replacement exhaust for a 1.8 auto estate in 2024 as even 20 years ago a replacement pipe for a 2.0 auto cost over twice as much as the manual equivalent.

That knackered dizzle I think we have had before is still around too.

In my earlier posts on here I'd mentioned the occasional phone call out of the blue I would sometimes get back in 2002 that started with the line "Hi Warren, I've got a Mondeo diesel for sale for £1250 with a few months plate left. Do you want to buy it? I need it gone by next Monday."

This is a 100% nailed on example of what the car looked like.

What's the difference between Ash Black and Panther Black?

Christmas present for mine was new wiper blades. Can't help but feel it's like getting a Master System when it wants a Mega Drive.

Good question, my '93 'launch' brochure just has 'black' with no fancy name.
