Runs well on WVO at 35p/litre and returns 55-60mpg.

6cd changer.

Can be supplied with "glf spec" engine map, and a walk through on how to tune. Currently runs mid 16 sec 1/4 miles

issues:

Drawing air into fuel lines. will start and drive but not great- I've tried new filters/ o rings etc to no avail.

All 4 dampers are ropey

Exhaust needs reconnected/welded

Brakes could do with a bleed.


Its no stunner, but with a bit of spanner action it'll no doubt potter on for another year.

The exterior of this thing is as minging as the name (which I coined) suggests, a proper abandon-in-the-worst-part-of-town-without-fear machine, but inside it not at all unpleasant to be honest. And it drives REALLY well, and even after stepping out of the famous Xantia, I couldn't feel owt wrong with the ride or handling. Neil's a bit harsh on it I reckon. It deserves to live on. The fact it's worth 100 scrap makes it even more of a bargain for someone - a free car. If not, I think Skattrd should have it to re-engine his Sirocco. It'd be a shame to see it fragged.

Taxi-spec Octavia Mk1s ran til about 2010 I think, so I guess there are still loads of them working for a living.
