Timewarp Sierra Laser

Reading through the Sierra Ghia collexion thread reminded me of this stunning early Sierra that I spotted when I was in Holland a couple of months ago.

Want!

Can't be many standard 3 door mk1's around now.

Didn't some Ford dealers do dealer only special edition versions?

That's gorgeous. It wouldn't last 5 minutes in this country before some fuckard tried sticking a whale tail on it and a set of wank wheels.

How hard is it to get parts to convert them to right hand drive?

I've seen loads for sale abroad starting at 5 hunna Euros.

I once ended up taking ,against an RS Turbo, a 3 door 1.6 with the obligatory nasty brittle fibreglass whale tail, bumper and bonnet. It drove like a piece of shit , had 4i seats but standard dash and trim, to top it all it had 13" Allycat's with 185/60 tyres. As bad a Coseh Rep* as you could possibly imagine, you know what ? I could have sold it 100 times over, had so many calls at , I think £2,000 , I should have put another grand on it, this was in 1989 mind.

Oh my that is gorgeous, I am guilty for whaletailing a 3 door sierra, in my defence all of its base spec stuff was wrecked and my dad bought it me as a smashed up wreck if I hadn't of had it, it would have been bean tins in 2001, i still have it today but it's far from your regular crap put together with tired 1.6 brakes, suspension with crap lowering springs etc I'm waiting for it to go in for paint then I can put finished pictures up of it in all its glory

I would love a standard one, there is a gorgeous gold 1.6L that I see at shows

They are very nice to drive - better than a lot of modern shit. Ford were berated for the RWD platform but it adds to the cars character.

Once went to look at 1.6 3 door years ago, looked a dreamboat in the pictures on Autotrader. In the flesh though it was you typical old giffer bodged up pile of shite, engine pissing oil out everywhere copious underseal all over the floors and interior held together with tape. Still in 2004 it was £500 it would have made a tidy investment if I'd bought it stuck it in the garage.

^^^ nearly the same for me but in about 2001. Picture in the trader looked OK on a Base spec 1.6 in that nasty blue.

Got there half the engine was missing and it was obvious that even before that it hadn't moved in ages.

It's been added to the list of cars I want but will never have

Never knew our European friends got the 2.0 Laser as a three door.

Can you imagine what a 3-door Ghia would be like? Uhhhhhhhhhhhh. Splaf.

They even got the mk2 in 3 door flavour in mainland Yerp. Loving this non wiper Laser spec with Hella style grille

Not a Sierra fan but that's real nice. As above, the Hella grille is a neat period touch.

Changing to RHD is a big job as the shell is very different.  Might be worth it as their Genk made Sierras do last a bit longer - my Mk1 was a Genk car and I remember the first time I took it for an MOT, the examiner came out from under the car and asked why it wasn't rusty.  (It got a bit rusty at 200K miles so I got a new shell).

Incidentally, I just looked up the Genk factory as I wasn't sure how to spell it - apparently it has just closed and Ford paid out 144,000 Euros per employee.  They must have wanted to close that factory badly.....

I put the general decent condition shell wise of my Blue mk1 3 door and my saph down to being genk made cars, mrs fp has a gold mk1 3 door project waiting to happen but that is a weldathon that is also a genk built car but it was cheap, when I say cheap the rear windows and surrounds could be sold to cover the cost of the car
