Baleno wbod collection/baleno gone :-(

Right folks small thread for the baleno. A great little motor and exactly as Red5 stated on the tin. Thanks to Lord Sterling, sterling job on delivery (see what I did there? Come on I'm knackered and still not home yet!) when mo got to me it was dark but under Street lights it looked ok. Jumped in amd pointed it in the general direction of the petrol station. 15 quid in tank, collected funds and proceeded in a southerly direction. Rain nearly all the way to Bewdley but the little suzi took it in its stride. Sat at about 60/65 more or less all way. Some observations are it feels very planted but the steering is very very light. Quiet comfortable too. Had a drink at mo's then pointed it back north and away we went. A bit of late night town driving and all well. Pulled up in layby on the a5 near cannock for shut eye and found the seats are quiet good for sleeping. When started I noticed a small squeal on the alternator belt but to be expected as Rd did say it's read for replacing. Got back to derby and put another 10 in tank. Mildly impressed at 134 mile since I put 15 quid in so fuel consumption not bad at all. I'm still 10 mile from home now but I'm absolutely shagged out! Pics to follow when daylight breaks.

It looks quiet nice in daylight. Bloody dirty now though. Quiet low gearing but typical Japanese like the mazda 323 we had. Comes with free boxes, overalls and pointy stick!

Odd isn't it?

A tidy looking car, still drives well but only worth £100, because it's not worth repairing for the next ticket.

It's a strange country we live in.

It was late amd I didn't want to contact you at such an ungodly hour!

Thanks folks it's a really nice car for the cost. Yes the vectra will be done. Rad pack arrived this morning.

Boxes are for putting stuff in (a Astra G headlamp initially), overalls are for a old schols group from a year ago (help yourself..) and the stump is for jabbing at said students. Chicken dinner.

I like pointy sticks, living with nobheads it may come in handy!

I remember driving one of those and was impressed, quite nippy for what they are

I much prefer that to a Vectra which was the most underwhelming car I ever drove

Keep it ☺

I loved driving this delightful little box on wheels (again). It's one of those cars that just goes. It really makes me winder why I bother perservering with cars like the Sterling and Merc. But then, I have a bloody mind and I like big wafty barges with too many toys.

Good luck with this Bub! I'll stick up a petrol station shot when I get home. Which might be tomorrow night...

hey bub, that is a real sweet ride that you have there, and for a hundred quid....

like,

one hundred pounds????????

thats shocking....

incidentally, i have to ask, in light of recent events, your middle name isn't Jonah is it?

Nah, Lucky I reckon.

Ace car. Might even be interested if you sell it on :)

I plan to use it till the vectra is fixed but due to both being high tax/insurance I can't see point in keeping both long term. The plan is get vectra on road and go back to that and buy a sub 1.5 litre engined car for fannying around with for cheaper tax. It will come back up for sale,I mentioned this to mo last night. If it survives (bearing in mind my fecking track record) it will be back up on here. Maybe raffle it at a quid a ticket,59 numbers. I'll have had use of it and how much it cost me I can live with a small loss. Trouble is regardless of all I've just said im actually growing fond of the little rice burner

well things are (have to?) pick up.

your mobile again in a set ridiculously cheap and not unpleasant looking ride, and the vectra is on its way to been road worthy again. plus you have provided the group with one hell of a calender picture for next year!

plus at some point we get to partake in another roffle...... goody good!!

I suppose looking at it like that! As for calender shot,I'm quiet looking forward to seeing that!

whenb the time comes, for the time comes to move the suzi on, if a roffle is required then a £1 a pop is really not enough.

ut should be in my opinion £2 ir even £2.50 a go.

that way not only do you get your money back, but there will be some beer money left over.

ok so its not a fab night out, but there is going to be enough for a few slurps, and either a pizza/kebab//tasty fish supper depending on you favorite take away snack.

and lest faceit, with what you have been though, you deserve it!

what you've been through would have broken me!

So far I have done approximately 300 miles. (150 was taking mo home and Back) drives lovely. Runs sweet. Regards the alternator belt,I've looked and it doesn't look that old but does squeal when damp occasionally. I'm wondering if adjustment may be in order first? I've done 130 mile today alone and it's used about quarter of a tank and that was mainly town driving. It's bloody nippy off the mark and handles really well. Can't believe what is available for 100 quid. After seeing the escort at cannock other week and What that fetched I'd be surprised if you could ever lose on it. Really warmed to it tonight. Seats are very nice and I've got used to the steering now.
