I've decided tomorrow I must start seriously investigating the vectra. I plan to Try get my tools here some how and make a start on removing rad and full investigation underneath at all mounts etc. A little project if you will. Then I can start piecing together what's what and what goes where. Tidying up the bumper, charging battery and getting at least one space-saver off and wheel on. Pics tomorrow. Here goes ......

If anyone is free then give me a shout. I can provide warm drinks and humour

It's cold drizzling and I can't get my tools. Damn. Right then let's have a look

I think the brackets what hold the radiator on are bust, air con radiator is well and truly fubar along with the rad itself but I can't see where the leak is till I can get ac rad off.

I've had a poke about underneath and nothing seems to be too bad. Hole in sump and the plug into the sump,I think it's oil level warning? Is broken too.

Radiator support brackets also available which is a bonus. I going to have to give ac rad a swerve for tine being though. Not important as yet.

will the sump not bodge with some chemical metal and a patch of biscuit tin?

I'd get a quote for getting the sump welded - a good engineering shop can weld aluminium.

Seems to be a few on ebay. Not sure what type you need though.

I asked re the corsa sump and they wouldn't do it on the car so would have to be removed, then he told me they would have to make a jig to hold the mating surface flat to stop warping. Total cost exceeded a new one.

A big hole in the sump, can't get pics due to angle and poor light. It's from front and down so a l shaped piece. Apparently it's an obsolete part from motor factors so scrap yard it is. Can't get to scrap yard though so I'm a bit kippered. If weather lifts off ill try get pics

That's the fella. Thanks mrbenn. I'm going to try getting to Albert looms to get the one off the vectra in there at some point.

Thanks Tom but I'm going to see what's occuring with a scrap yard local to me. Right. I'm in need. Has anyone a medium sized car really cheap? I've considered my options and after being stuck in today I can't tolerate it and with weather being shite it's when I can get to get things together for car. I've considered tons fiesta but it's too small and also ken's mondeo but due to it being a second car I don't need something as big for a temporary measure. Really pissed off i can't insure the bx as that would have been ideal!

How cheap is cheap? I have the Rover. I would need £350 or so for it though :(

Did you try Peter Best insurance for the BX, they have always done me proud.

Yea,tried Peter best Lancaster, sureterm and standard insurance. Bloody expensive

I love the r8 shapes. I've spoke to a friend and he has said with my record it's no good me having one car. Keep vectra do it up an use as best and another car for running around etc.
