Midlands massive man down

Due to situation beyond my control I appear to have fell off some tarmac. Car is beached on a drystone wall with two flat tyres, subframe bent, rad bust, sump bust etc. I was doing 40/45 on manystones lane in Brassington near hoban industry last night (Google maps if anyone wants to look it up!) Sweeping bend but damp roads. Lifted off throttle a little bit due to oncoming car,abs light flashed up followed by 4 wheel lock up. Slide sideways, mounted and demolished wall and slid down bank so car is half on Wall half in field. Meeting a local chap with a tractor this morning who is going to drag it into the field then onto the road. I'm only third party so insurance won't cover repairs either. Luckily the land owner is a decent enough fella and I know someone who can rebuild wall and fence. Does anyone know a good way of getting car home? Has anyone got a 5 stud vectra wheel I can borrow to drag it's sorry arse home too? Any help greatly appreciated. This is not good. My luck has plummeted. Pics to follow when I get to the car.

Jesus Christ, if it wasn't for bad luck you'd have no luck at all.

Jeez mate, did you write off a truck load of mirrors or something? Hope it's gets sorted soon mate. Is it a write off or repairable do you think?

Bad times man. You've got to wonder what might have failed to cause all 4 wheels to lock up like that. Are you OK??

Bloody hell Daz, you muppet, it happens to the best of us! Glad you're ok though.

You just wanted an excuse to buy another motor, didn't you? :D

I think Saab wheels will fit. Sorry I can't be any more help.

Fucksticks dude.

I can be of no further assistance due to distance, but glad you're ok.

If you need 'wheels' - you are free to have the use of the Mondy, it is MOT'd until 1st Jan and has a problem handbrake and a bit of a droning bearing but otherwise is ok.

You'd just have to get down to London :(

Thanks for condolences and offers of assistance folks. Still shook up at minute, aching like a fecker this morning. Disability flare up again due to crash. I would say it is repairable but probably not worth it overall. Then again though I've had cambelt, waterpump, tensioner and discs and pads done on car so it may be worthwhile. First glance shows subframe pushed back, bumper, foglights etc gone, wing scuffed up,exhaust fucked, sump smashed, rad gone too. I honestly can't say what or why it locked up. I know abs light flashed on and that was that. I've got to work out where to store it and how to get it home yet. Feel like crying to be honest.

To be honest I really liked the vectra. Only manual I've felt comfy driving. I must have liked it to have all the work done on it!

Do you honestly think he could manage to get from London to Derby without fucking the Mondeo up somehow??? ☺

If you scrap the vectra, check the cat. Manifold worthless but proper vectra cats worth a bit

Good luck towing home and try not to wreck the tractor

I seem to recall if you drive a bit enthusiastically or give it too much in the wet (especially on roundabouts and corners), it makes the light come on.

Sadly it sounds too far gone to repair, outer body damage you could have got away with by hammer/gaffer tape/wrong coloured body panels, but sump, subframe and exhaust probably rule out economic repairs.

Bad luck fella! These country lane are muddy nightmares at the moment, had a 4 wheel drift near miss myself this week. Hope you get it all sorted out ok!

I've just spent 350 on this minus some assistance from kind folk on here on the car that's what's painful, I don't usually spend that much buying a car!

If I were you.....Im not, so do as you please, but if I were.....

The car sounds fucked. Shifted subframe and burst sump? God knows what other damage underneath might come to light later, so I would get it dragged to the entrance to the field, phone a breakers or car takeback and have them lift it from the roadside. No point even spending to get it recovered.

Repairing it....you could easily sink another 300 - 500 on parts, and maybe a hell of a lot more with absolutely no guarantee that the car is even still straight.

Bin it off and buy something else. I am sure the money you would need to spend on repairs will get a decent enough car via this forum.

Glad you're not dead fella. Bin it and borrow something else.

And stop walking under ladders.

Very glad you're not badly hurt.

It's a shame this has happened just after you've spent money and time on the car, but that's in the past and should make no difference to your decision on what to do now.

The car sounds fairly buggered.  You're going to have to shell out some more money.  Spend it on a non-buggered one instead.

Woken up myself after this kind of nightmare,  glad you are not hurt and neither is anyone else.   Once the gratitude for that wears off its OMFG how do I sort this out?

Monsieur Dave-les-numero seems to have the best plan - is there anything you could salvage from the car betwixt field and scrappage recovery?    Even with everything done I would personally have no more confidence in the bloody thing.....

Glad to hear your ok, mustard Mit your rundown of the damage makes me think buying something else would be a better bet. Yes, scrap is on the floor but that also means there's lots of cheap motors to choose from to replace it. Shame as it sounded like you were getting on well with that vectra.
