Any shiters do shot blasting?

I have a need for some metal bits from a Hoover to be shot/bead/whatever blasted back to bare metal. I did briefly ponder nitromorse or bilt hamber stuff, but have heard nitromorse is shit now, and this paint will be very old, and then there's some rust.

 

Does anyone here have a blast cabinet who would be up for doing a bit of blasting for some beer money if I post the bits over and put a return label in the box?

 

 

 

 

 

or could anyone recommend anyone/a place that would do it for £not a lot

 

Then I need to work out what colour to paint it. Thinking purple, but the bag is blue so want it to roughly match

I have access to 2 blasting machines at work. Glass and shot. The shot blaster might be a bit much but they should come up ok with glass. Sure I could do them on a quiet saturday

That would be ace if you could, thanks! I'll finish getting all the bits together and take a pic so you know what there is if you want before finally committing yourself!

 

I'm planning to re-paint them (need to learn how to do that too), so as long as the paint and rust are off it will be good. There's no corrosion to speak of, just surface rust and old paint.

If you were closer you would have been welcome to use my blast cabinet and spray guns.  As your are a bit* far away, my offer doesn't really amount to much... sorry.

Will confirm with 2mb tomorrow with pictures that I wouldn't be taking the piss and see what happens! If all goes well I have another few bits that could be done, wont send them all at once though, don't like having more than 1 project on the go at once!

Any idea what metal the bits are made from? I guess there's all sorts there but with mild steel it's best to get a lick of primer on straight away. Blasting pulls all the goodness out of the surface and rust sets in within hours. It is only surface and can be rubbed off with some emery but I could put a bit of red oxide on the mild bits to protect them, if you're planning to paint them

Lol no, no factory job there, it was originally jade green, bloody rare nowadays!

And yes, itll be pai ted, im gonna teach myself spray painting on it, and was going to primer it anyway. Will ask questions on that when it happens, which prob wobt be until next year when the weather is better as ill be doing it in the garden...

Ah, the main housing is aluminium, not sure what the smaller parts are though. When ive dropped eva off at school in a bit ill get them down from the loft and take some pics.

 

Feel free to primer them all up though if you think its the right thing to do, they will be sat around for a while

There is 1 other part of the handle too, but I need to remove the handle grip from it still. Would that be ok? How much would you want/what do you drink and I'll put some in the box! Wont be until next week though, the flange gets paid then so I can pay for a hermes label!

Im not, I curtailed a lot of FB activity due to some shizzle at work, Im right at the Preston end of the M65 and IIRC there is someone not that far away down the M65.

Its not taking up much room here for now.
