Lots of people lament that the 63bd1bcf442faa7cee9800f284351652 didn't go into production.

C'mon guys, a word of text here and there will help.

I was going to suggest that Volvo should have made a 165, but if you do a Google image search their must be more homemade estates than 164 s left!

An ex of long ago did the opposite of that to an applejack metro simply using a t junction, a fast moving articulated lorry, a complete lack of attention and 3 weeks in hospital.

Not recommended.

Just look at those A pillars and their contribution to safe* all-round vision - again Citroen are years ahead.

Thing is though, if you really, really wanted to, you could get/find a bodykit similar to that and have the interior restitched to make it look like the 4x4 Buffalo Xantia concept by Heuliez above.

From Fiat

Pininfarina was not the only designer who liked the little Fiat 600. The design house Carrozzeria Ghia SpA had already in 1958 converted a number of standard Fiat 600 into a soft-top version

Aye but the 4x4 transmission and suspension will be a little harder to throw together.

It's on Munich plates, so I guess pshome isn't far away from it.

Schiebefens... sliding side windows??? Wow! This car appears a lot on the net and other media. Seems to be unique though.

Edit: Now on M? Used to have Meissen plates.

However, it's a clone, and there are others.

The genuine Riviera prototype made by Pininfarina was shown for the last time at the Barcelona Salon in May 1972

and disappeared afterwards never to be seen again.

Crude window arrangement aside, this thing is ace and I wish I had it. Pretty sure it's still knocking about too

Hmmm, such a beauty!

Ok, it would not have worked, but look at it!

Good but the 'Opera' is better.

Turin not Detroit. The Italians don't seem to like estates or hatchbacks much though.

Opel tried something similar with the A - Commodore and called the prototype "Voyage" (an A - Ascona Voyage did exist, however).

It remained a prototype though (this is a clone). There were no factory Opel Commodore estates available until the C - Commodore,

of which a mere 2,440 found buyers.

Sometimes, with Italian assistance Volvo is shecksy. Engines courtesy of 164, bodies in house and Zagato.
