KruJoe Posted November 8, 2015 Posted November 8, 2015 other party was immediately aggressive Fair enough Eddy.Keep us posted on developments.
hairnet Posted November 8, 2015 Posted November 8, 2015 The other party was immediately aggressive and trying to convince me it was my fault, so yes. That's what they're for. Absolutely.....shove it right up the blind cow.id have rang her an ambulance then a specsavers appointment
eddyramrod Posted November 8, 2015 Author Posted November 8, 2015 I know the weather was shit, but how did she fail to see a bright red car with headlights on? Her blob was silver but I managed to see that!
eddyramrod Posted November 8, 2015 Author Posted November 8, 2015 She might very well have been, but I couldn't tell. That's how good visibility was, and why I had my lights on and was driving like a grandad. Oh..... I am a grandad! Oops!
phil_lihp Posted November 8, 2015 Posted November 8, 2015 What s shame, I hope it's repairable, the heavy steering might just be because the front suspension's out of alignment and nothing structural. At least no-one was hurt, fingers crossed your luck improves!
eddyramrod Posted November 8, 2015 Author Posted November 8, 2015 Thanks Phil. I tried to open the passenger door today. Well just the way I phrased that should give you a clue. It opened, but not very far.
trigger Posted November 8, 2015 Posted November 8, 2015 It's not been a good weekend for shiters on here accident wise. Hope you get it all sorted without too much hassle Eddy
overrun Posted November 9, 2015 Posted November 9, 2015 Unlucky, mate. Hope it goes down as her fault.Expect it to be written off, though. If not, bin that 'TOMS' scoop! I dislike them at the best of times, but on an otherwise standard car, it looks well out of place (just IMO).
Felly Magic Posted November 9, 2015 Posted November 9, 2015 Bloody hell mate, hope you are OK. Seeing too many fugging myopic people on the road lately
For Fiats Sake Posted November 10, 2015 Posted November 10, 2015 Damn and blast when will society see sense and ban women from driving? Angry Sheep and warren t claim 2
eddyramrod Posted November 10, 2015 Author Posted November 10, 2015 Thanks for all the support, everyone, I appreciate it. I'm waiting now for someone to come out and tell me whether they're going to consider repairing it, or not, and if so, what to expect. KruJoe 1
eddyramrod Posted November 11, 2015 Author Posted November 11, 2015 Just a thought while I wait for the assessor.... anybody got a good LH door and wing they would sell? Possibly some NSF suspension too but I don't yet know what's needed. Just to give me an idea of prices.....

You on IMOC, Eddy? http://www.imoc.co.uk/forums/viewtopic.php?t=187854This Rev 2 Turbo is breaking. Looks like Super Red, like yours?I have asked the lad how much for the panels. (I opened your thread to tell you about this) eddyramrod 1
eddyramrod Posted November 11, 2015 Author Posted November 11, 2015 That might be just the job, and many thanks for flagging it up! I didn't know IMOC existed, I'd better have a butcher's now! overrun 1
eddyramrod Posted November 17, 2015 Author Posted November 17, 2015 OK, the assessor has been today and as I more or less expected, he's writing it off. It's going to need a bunch of steering/suspension components as well as the bodywork, and the NSF wheel has a chunk out of it that I hadn't spotted before. Not surprising really as today's the first day it hasn't been raining since the crash! So, salvage value, if I want to take that option, is 220.00 If I choose to keep the car that's what they'll knock off the settlement. Anyone want to take it on for that price? I need to make my decision within the next day or two really so if you want it, shout now.
Slartibartfast Posted November 17, 2015 Posted November 17, 2015 220 is a lot for a broken car. I'm surprised they've offered that much.
The Moog Posted November 17, 2015 Posted November 17, 2015 That does sound a lot. I would have thought you would be offered it for half that. Shame it is so broken as looked an ace car otherwise

I was hoping it was far more than that to put it out of my reach... KruJoe 1
KruJoe Posted November 17, 2015 Posted November 17, 2015 I'm gutted I missed out on bidding for an ebay breaker last month, I could have supplied the bits. I'd have this to fix mine up, but 220 is a bit much really. How about this... an Autoshiter comes and borrows the parts from my dormant one to enjoy this over the winter, then delivers it back to Yorkshire the day before the test expires? I'll transfer £100 (or whatever) by BACS, as I'll still be out of the country then. I'm at BD23, not a million miles from Eddy.Cheeky? Silly idea? eddyramrod 1
eddyramrod Posted November 17, 2015 Author Posted November 17, 2015 I agree, it's a bit dear for a broken car, but I thought it was worth asking. I would have to pay someone to do the work, so even using secondhand parts, it's uneconomic. I know there are people here who have somewhere to swing a spanner, for whom it might be a prospect. Don't worry about turning it down, I'm not going to be offended. I'm just sad it's been killed by some stupid tart's lack of thought.
warren t claim Posted November 17, 2015 Posted November 17, 2015 Are you claiming on her insurance or yours?
eddyramrod Posted November 17, 2015 Author Posted November 17, 2015 So far it's mine that's been dealing with it. I'm assuming they will claim the cost of settlement from hers.
eddyramrod Posted November 23, 2015 Author Posted November 23, 2015 I've accepted the offer. Just got to clear my stuff out of it tomorrow and they can arrange collection. It's sad, but sometimes you just have to wave goodbye. It could have been much worse, at least I'm still here to tell the tale, like Bub and EC. Slartibartfast, The Moog and CGSB 3
ruffgeezer Posted November 24, 2015 Posted November 24, 2015 Weird that. A customer of mine had his Picasso written off and got paid 384 quid for the car less 11 quid for keeping the car salvage.
eddyramrod Posted November 24, 2015 Author Posted November 24, 2015 So far I've had three phone calls about arranging collection. The first, yesterday, I couldn't hear. I said ring me back. Eventually someone did, but I was on the A9 heading out of Scotland at the time, so I said call me at 5. Nobody did. This morning someone calls again, and again I can't hear. No return call yet.Have some snaps of the damage, meanwhile...Chunk out of NSF wheel:Wing and door:Not-very-good shot behind NSF wheel:I've cleared my stuff out now, it can go when they decide to actually make arrangements with me.
overrun Posted November 25, 2015 Posted November 25, 2015 Power folding mirrors, Eddie? If yes, whip em off, play ignorant (like they would even notice/care) and I will happily purchase them from you.
eddyramrod Posted November 26, 2015 Author Posted November 26, 2015 Didn't see this in time, sorry.... it went last night. Started up perfectly and drove up the road to the transporter. The Copart driver said it would most likely be sold as a project car rather than being stripped, so it might be worth keeping an eye on their site. KruJoe 1
