Scrap cars are £20-£35 at the moment dependant on weight/cats/alloys

What's the cheapest you've seen and have you bought any bargains ?

I've provisionally bought an 02 fiesta and an 03 punto for the total price of £60

Consequently there's a lot of decent £300 quid cars too

Its definitely a buyers market, and the market value of low end stuff is really affected by the scrap baseline ( I sound like a 'market analyst' now) My alfa was well under 500 quid and ive deliberately avoided searching the local ads in case I end up buying more cars! I recon Sloth-in-the-bowl's under 200 thread will be bursting at the seams at the mo.

Still it raises a smile as theres lots of people trying it on/ oblivious with 'its wurth 120 scrap' not any more pal.

Good effort. I need to keep an eye out for something cheap local and 5 door. Off to scan dumbtree.

I'm passing them up like there's no tomorrow. I've had an offer of a Vauxhall Agila where he insisted he was offered £165 for scrap for it and wanted £180 to sell it. I told him I wished him luck with that one and left it.

Besides that? Tidy Corsa Combo van (the old type with the rusty hood over the cab, I've always fancied one of them) short MOT and slipping clutch for £80, Fiesta with suspect headgasket for £40 and long MOT and quite a few more.

I reckon scrap is going to be down for a while longer yet which is great news as I'm still semi-actively seeking a recovery truck and once scrap drops the market floods with cheap ones.

fuck me that middle one is tasty!

Maybe but several prospective purchasers (my self included) have walked away from it without buying.

reallly? whats wrong with it? or does it need more than just glow plugs, a service and a good bleed of the brakes?

It's a great time to buy luxo barges. Dirt cheap to buy and cheap(ish) fuel. Fill yer boots while it lasts I say!

The pub landlord offered me his rolls Royce silver spirit last night, he said the grill was worth £800 and he could weigh in the rest.

I'm going back to view when sober to see if I can get a roller for £800

Saw a x plate Celica dumped by the roadside up in Yorkshire last week. More to follow I reckon.

... is there any corollation between scrap£ & 'log book loans' or have they never wanted the car anyway?

The Rolls breakers will pay a grand for one at least so at 800 you can't go wrong. The grille isn't worth 800 though, usually they will actually sell around 500 or the spirit of ecstasy will make around 150 on its own

Not surprised, with 860k* on the clock...  ;)
