That is a thing of elegance and lovely in white. Ridiculously cheap for what it's going to be worth in a few years.

This really is nice. If only i had the space/room/money was allowed more cars :)

That is lovely, and has a proper gearbox too.

I want it, I have the cash but if I come back with any more old cars I'm dead! I need more space.

GLWTS, hopefully it'll stay with someone on here.

Hopefully if the planets align and so on this may well be coming my way.

Any volunteers to drive it down to me? :)

As above, struck a possible deal with Ken, just need to get it from Teesside to London.

My trucks still out of action and I'm limited with time at the moment but I could help get it somewhere else if others are willing to chip in?

Take the Triumph in part-ex, pre-book an MOT and drive it back?

The Dolly has now been taken by Mr Duke mate. Well not 'taken' yet but you know what I mean :)

That Sierra looks great, always had a hankering for one of these! I'm sure the new owner will be well chuffed with this....

Well if I knew that you had a Dolly that needed to be near Wales....

Then I could try to convince Mr Duke that he really wanted the Cherry back instead ;)

This will be interesting comparing it to my Mk1 1.6L Sierra that I had back in the day.

I know! Well, apart from the Volvo and the Rover. So 50% Ford then :)

It is funny how it works out. I last had a Ford in about 2005. Now I have two of the bloomin' things :)

Like the Sierra. Dad had a D plate mk2, really liked it best car he had.

Nice one Mr Ken. Time for another Autoshite get together so I can perv over this one.

Ken, at this rate you'll be buying a Cortina as well and calling yourself Trigger!

'Tina's nowadays are well out of my league :(

I'd love a Mk3 1600XL in Daytona Yellow just like my Dad's.

Oi, I was there first with a Dolomite, a Cortina and (possibly) a Sierra :(

Your Sierra Ghia will make my Cortina look stone age.

Any of you Ford botherers know of a good source of Sierra parts. Just in case at some point.

Posted

Hmm, thought as much but there doesn't seem to be a huge amount of Mk1 stuff.

Thought there might have been a dusty old car spares shop in Essex or Norfolk somewhere.

Which owners club is most useful?

Posted

I have some NOS gasket sets and piston rings. As well as carbs and a couple of engines.

The sierra owners club is OK, a bit quiet these days but still good to get parts and advice

Am really looking forward to getting my shovel-like mitts on this.

The headlining on the sunroof blind will bug me. I know that the Sierras had headlining made of what appears to be compressed cardboard and any fluid cleaner will reduce it to a mushy mess or thereabouts. Am gonna have to get all creative on its ass.

its not the board that fails when you clean it, its the 33 year old foam that backs the material that breaks down when it gets wet and the material peels away and sags, the original material is foam backed and the foam is the part that is glued to the board

i personally would get some grey foam backed headlining material, take out the headlining from the car, peel off the fabric, clean the fibreboard up from the old foam, and re trim it using high temp brush on contact adhesive dont use spray on as it isnt as good, i did this on my mk1 3 door, the board on mine was also worse for wear at the back, but this part tucks under the seal so i wasnt really too bothered.

my top tip if you do this is work from the centre when adhering the new material to the board
