on the first pic of the smaller controller what are the numbers?

officially insane :D

and to quote ortiz from speed 'he sure does have a hard on for this bus (ken) '

Posted

126 refers to the individual destination screen.

900 refers to the route number albeit irrelevant to 126 "Stagecoach Glasgow Open Day". It does not show 900 on the external signs - it's just there 'cos that's the last one used.

Some destination screens need the driver to put in a route number.

For example destination number 1113 "Glasgow (Scottish Citylink)" requires the driver to put a route number in as well.

Citylink run various services to Glasgow such as the 900, 914, 915, 916, M8, M9 and M11.

It's just an electronic version of the old paper roller displays. Driver selects a destination and puts up a route number.

An old favourite is destination 97 "Ring 'n' Ride" with the route number set to ME so that it reads Ring 'n' Ride ME.

FUCK Colchester Bus Station was a good one I used a few times :P Serves management right for proging the Hanovers like that. I once got moaned at by a CUNTroller on rail rep for setting it to RAIL, which the side & rear repeater displays showed. A mate of mine has a stash of Hanover units rescued from a scrap skip when First were shutting a depot where he worked, sod all wrong with them, they'd recently been removed from darts that went for scrap. He deffo needs to get the software though to have much fun with them

It amazes me that these companies left in complete alphabets. It's not hard to tell the software which characters are allowable. 0-9, A,B,C,D and X should be enough for anyone.

First only found out when a driver was spotted by a local councillor, it ended up in the local press. This happened about 6 months after I left, and I knew the driver in question, and surprisingly he didn't get sacked

They do use L & R & P in West Yorkshire for school services :)

Just in for a visit. Needs a wash....badly.

Also after the main event, a flying visit to the GVVT at Bridgeton for a shot of George Gray's Cummins L10-210 powered Metrobus.

210 as in 210bhp? I thought L10s were usually pegged around 290bhp? Detuned for economy? Boost restrictors?

Posted

Depends on the application. My yellow Olympian SHOULD have a 245 but it's currently got a 180. Biggest ones you got in any bus was around the 280 mark.

George's Metrobus has the same 180 lump as mine however he knows how to tweak the governor to let it rev harder.

Ta, merci. I remember once travelling in a Metroliner with an L10, twin deck 400GT, can't remember who ran it. It had no trouble overtaking HGVs.

Posted

A Metroliner 400GT with an L10? I'm sure they had N14s.

Maybe not a GT. I'm not sufficiently up on my MCWs. National Express Rapide thingy. This was donkeys ago. Obviously.

Posted

Boggo Metroliners had either the L10 or 6LYT fitted, the Tracky 400GT's ended up with Scania power

Posted

Ah, ta. As a local you might remember Partridge of Hadleigh's Paramount 4000. It had a 6LYT and "Gardner 330 Turbo" scripted proudly on the back.

Made a lovely noise.

That will have been a Neoplan underframe, Tracky had some of those as well, which ended up in the Coachlink fleet, went to Skeggy years back on one, the roof leaked badly

Today was day 2 of however many of cleanup to get the world's biggest autoshite ready for show (ehem...yes) at the weekend.

Herr cms206 set about the hubs with a hammer and chisel and took some seriously cruddy paint off. Not having a needle scaler, we decided to use the pulsed vortex lance on the pressure washer to take the last chunks off.

Then we decided to attack the actual wheels themselves...

Looking retired Pakistani - UK favorite city Bali Lan 143

But also a city of Bali Lan eleven meters private collections!

143 (ES3771) Stagecoach after being purchased, shipped to the UK for some time walking Megabus (Stagecoach number 13624, the former license plate TSU 638), and later when they gradually withdrew Leland Megabus services and the sale, purchase new buyers will use it as a school bus license plate to H987 RKG. As when he was high, I believe it has much time, a British bus spotting Mr David Fowler bought the car for his private collection, and plans to respond to the color Megabus era.

Although not look back Citybus, but knowing which one is reserved afar off, is a very nice thing.

June 2016, the owner drove it to participate autoshite.com activities, a private car to the old theme topic of online organizations. Activities in southern England, closer to Milton Keynes and London, held in the city from the car park Glasgow Scotland (Glasgow) have to walk 380 miles one way, is a very long distance, even private cars should be six hours, need more bus a long time, the owner will only separate trip for two days, more bring a sleeping bag on the luggage rack at night to rest in the car, the ultimate success of arrival. In entering the venue time and had a little episode, several times, but fortunately help "Air-bit" can together before and after the bus due to too long when entering the car down in the driver's needs and any other person present technical success.
