@martc posted this in the Lads and Lassies thread. Must be the late 1970s by the rego on the panda. It shows the slip road onto the coast road from the junction at the top of Howdon. Note the A1 is still going through the Tyne Tunnel, so it's pre the Western By-Pass. Also those blocks have flats are now long gone, replaced by houses in the early 1990s. I live about half a mile from there.

NE film trivia. Terry from the Likely Lads feature film had a flat there. Bob's red Chevette HTM 10N got its wheels nicked in the flats car park. 😛

A bit of old video from the mid 1980s showing the flats. The video also has bits of footage of the road down to Tynemouth. The ESSO and Shell garages are still there.

Gateshead West Street outside the town hall, sometime in the 1960s. That's a nice looking mini countryman.

Mildly funny story. In about 2002 I went to a classic car show in Washington. I got a bit lost and forgot what district I was heading for. I saw a Morris Minor traveller and thought "aha, I'll follow that as it must be going to the show too". Nope, I ended up at Savacentre, they were off to do their shopping!

The Lord Raglan Inn, Ropery Walk (now Felling View), Walker, 1966. This pub, and the building next to it, are no longer there.

^ ^ ^ .... Woolworths, Sland.

Around '65/'66 I went in, with Ma, and they had a fabulous [hey, it IS the N.E. 😮] Do-Nut machine....

Plopped the ring of batter into the sizzling oil, a neat conveyor lifted them out slowly up a draining incline and they clomped onto grease proof sheets for sugar/jam 🥰

Never got one but loved watching it.....

It's Toby Carvery, not a Wetherspoons.

I knew something would be a Weatherspoons. Finally somewhere I can get a traditional pint of wine.
