Not many times, but sometimes, however none consecutively:

2x MX5s (mk1 and mk2.5)

3x Golfs (mk3 GTi 16v, mk4 GTTDi, R)

3x E46 BMWs (all straight sixes - 323i, 330i, M3)

2x 5 series BMWs (E12 528 and E39 M5)

2x Porsche 993s (cab and coupe)

Currently running the Golf R and MX5 mk2.5. Love em both to bits!

Tons of other stuff in between; Citroen AX 1.0 to GPZ900R A1

Yes

Around 20 Cavaliers (maybe nearer 30)

4 Audi 80s

3 sciroccos

3 Sierras

3 cortinas

2 capris

2 fiestas

2 fronteras

Those are just the ones that stick in my head. Currently on 4 Mg ZTs/Rover 75s but after 100 or so cars there's bound to be a few duplicates.

I've bought two Dolomites and still own them. Not a high number but I've only owned four cars in total and if another Dolly cropped up at the right price I couldn't trust myself not to buy it, especially if it's a spec I don't already own...

Despite my cars being fairly crap I have a burning desire to "complete the collection" and acquire a 1500 and a Sprint...

7 Rover 800s of which I still own 5.

I've got two :/ I'm on the way to Mo-dom.

I've recently set myself a "never go back" rule.

Previously.

10x Cortina Mk3/4/5

10x Escort RS2000

4x Alfa 164

2x Lancia Delta Integrale

2x 205 GTI

4x Sierra 4x4

10x Capri Mk2/3

6x Granada Mk2

2x Range Rover P38a

10x Ford Crown Victoria

8x Range Rover Classic

2x Fiat 131 Supermirafiori

2x Mini 1275 GT

2x Rover 3500 P6

2x Rover 3500 EFI VdP

3x Ford Focus

2x Jaaag XJS

2x Jaaag XJ

2x Alfa 155

3x Mk1 Fiesta

2x Cortina Mk3

2x Mini 850

10x Mk2 Escort (non RS)

4x Mk2 Golf GTI

2x Mk1 Golf GTI

2x Delta HF Turbo

2x Fiat 127 Sport

2x BMW E28

2x BMW E34

2x BMW E39

2x VW Beetle

2x Talbot Sunbeam

2x Nova SR

4x Sierra 2wd

2x Escort van

2x Cortina estate

2x Vauxhall Astra

The never go back policy means I've had single examples of loss of weird and wonderful stuff. Just sticking to one is more fiscally sensible and easier, but a bit like only eating corn flakes and nothing else.

I may bend this rule if I find an S210 E55 AMG.

Several times I've had a car and thought "this car is great, imagine how good a newer/posher/faster version would be". Without exception the "upgrade" has been a heap of shit. I think I've learned my lesson now.

I should think 50+ Corsas, 50+Cavaliers, 50+ Astras and 20+Transits for starters tell their own tale.

Apart from 3 x A60s, 5 x Nissan Bluebirds, 6 x Cortinas and 11 x Granadas, I tend to just buy the terminally cheap and forlorn.

Posted

Having had 2 zx's so far, I'll always beeline to them if I want an unassuming, reliable cheap car tbh!

Posted

I've only had ten Volvos, of which eight were 700s or 900s and five of those were estates.

I think I may have a problem.

I used to be a serial buyer of Mk 2 Granadas. Don't know how many I've had.

Then went on to Carltons and Senators. Once again, don't know how many.

I'm on my second Volvo V70 now. Can't see me buying anything else in the forseeable future. Best cars I've had so far.

Posted

2 x honda civics

2 x honda crvs

2 x porsche 944s

5 x mazda mx5s

usually in the combination of 1 x plaything + 1 x boring daily = minimum grief from mrs gm

Did that with the Citroën C6.

"I love my CXs, but they're all OLD. People have BROKEN THEM for me. If I had one from new it would be AWESOME." Ditto XMs.

Got a C6. It was shit (FSVO - still a very good car in the right situation, but flawed and nothing like the character and smoothness of a CX or XM).

I've now decided that I will just keep maintaining the cars I have and love. I don't want a newer SLK, but I will keep mine to the best standard I can.

Yes, you haven't had enough 240s

edited to add, compared to some people on here I think I'm quite sane.

I loved my volcane td. Reliable, fun to drive, would have another... might even go looking now!

Seems a bit lame to mention my 2 X minis and 2 X 405s.

I had an AX and a 106. Does that count?

Thought not.

I seem to buy something new to me and then obtain more of the same car. I think i have rarely owned only one of the hundreds of cars I have owned and if I have only owned one I really didn'tlike it much

2x Pontiac Firebird.  V6 followed by 350cu V8.  The V8 was MUCH better than the poxy V6

2x sporty Astra (GTE and GSi). Both were good in different ways. The GSi at least had ABS and a/c. The 8V 2.0 GTE engine was a lot better than the 16V 1.8 GSi.
