WJ Furbers and his sheds of tat

Just spent a nice enough hour and a half wandering what's left of the mighty Furber empire

It seems they have been on the edge of bankruptcy for a while,and selling off as much stock as possible

We got a whisper last night that it's all closing next month and they are having a final push to clear as much as they can

So the Mrs and I took a run up there to have a poke about

To start with all the bikes have gone. Gone as in all put into a bailer and crushed........

We only had time to look around 1 of the many sheds that have been opened to Joe Public,and to be honest there's not much stuff in there off any interest unless you like looking at piles of plastic headlights and bumpers

We took a few pics then had a wander around 1 of the yards still holding cars

 

 

We were told that this is the remains of a Marina diesel.......

 

 

And this shed held cars that weren't to be sold

 

 

Most of the decent stuff has been picked by the receiver's appointed auctioneers,and an auction is being held on August 8th to clear the last of the vehicles only

No panels or stuff will be auctioned off and what's left will be crushed

This wasn't his scrapyard,that was at Roving Bridge on Wixhall Moss and shut ages ago

This Industrial estate is where all the cat c/d write off stuff was kept before being sold as damaged repairable,or moved over to the scrappy

 

The Morgan has had a bit accident,the front subframe and suspension are pretty much scattered all over the unit

No mention of any cars in the auction, I think many of them ended up in the crusher a while back.

Shit, that Victor is an ultra-rare FE 2300S like mine, although it's in the Bright Green metallic with the Onyx interior. Only one other survivor in that colour scheme to my knowledge! Such a shame the interior's been exposed to the elements through the broken windows though

Did anybody go to the auction on Saturday?

The Mrs went for a nosey on Friday's viewing,place was rammed .

None of the cars were being sold,she was told"the scrap side is still going"

The auctioneers were insisting on a 1k deposit by cash or card to register for the auction tho. ......and were wondering why only 20 odd peeps had signed up...

I'll try swing by 1 evening and see what the score is

Makes you wonder why they should the bridge if the scrap is still going. I take it the commercial vehicle and motorbike parts of it have gone too?
