Number plates on trailers

To put the finishing touch to my mega cheap shite trailer, I need to get, or make, a numberplate for it. I was chuffed to bits yesterday when I found some black plastic vinyl letters and numbers in a drawer so wondered what the AS massive reckon the pull factor of using a laminated bit of yellow card with vinyl letters stuck on rather than an actual legal pl8 m8?

I see loads of people with numberplates made of cereal packet with the reg scrawled on using permanant marker, but not sure what the plod think about this? Do people ever get pulled or can they just not be bothered?

I have been meaning to get a new set made up for the Almera anyway, so when I do replace them I'll recycle the rear one for the trailer, but until then I want to make the most of the trailer by hauling loads of old tat around for no real reason other than I have a trailer.

Opinions? Crime of the century and a guaranteed spot on crimestoppers/watchdog? Or minor offence/not worth the paperwork like murder and/or plunging the economy into the worst recession in 70 years?

Look down beside the handbrake.... if there is a 20P, toss it and no matter what side comes up...

If Plod is on a mission = 'Joo Vill Lose!'

I drag my jetski all over and haven't had a plate for ages (or a pull, ever) on that trailer.

I used yellow and black paint to make my Dad's old numberplate YF52 KUN look like mine AK52 KHT. Worked so well I even managed to get a speeding ticket!

Technically not legal, has to be all BS-marked and reflective and stuff.

I really can't imagine a copper pulling for for having a yellow plate, with proper shaped letters, displayed in the right place though. He'd have to be having a mega-crap day for that to be his plan of action.

You don't need a rear plate on the car when you are towing so you can use that if you're worried.

Basically wot he said. No, it should be a properly made BSwhathaveyou-numbered affair but long as the plate is readable and letters/numbers correctly sized and spaced, I reckon 99% of plod have better things to do and as long as it's there, they'll be happy.

The vinyl letters are not quite as big as 'normal' numberplate ones but are entirely legible. I think I'll chance it as tbh it isn't going to get a ton of usebetween now and then, and anything I do use it for will be local. Basically it will just be for transporting our bikes from home <2 miles to the sea to ride along the promenade.

"Ride the fuckers to the sea" I hear you all bellow. Well this would work, except micro_stanky is only 5 and while it is do-able, it would be bloody slow going!

Previously I have taken an old number plate, sprayed the back of it yellow (but in a paler shade, Triumph Mimosa yellow is easy on the eye) and then used stick on letters from Homebase.

I know I have only saved a few quid, but sometimes its all about sticking it to the man, y'know?
