Comrades,

As per title, Shiter Whiteley and I will be at Birch services, betwixt J18 and J19 on the M62 from 11am onwards. All folk and chod welcome - come and join us. Find us in a corner of the car park away from all the strange people in shiny new cars.

DISCLAIMER: I cannot be held responsible for brakedowns travelling to and from the event, asking random strangers if they are shite just because they have an old car and drawing funny looks, prevailing weather conditions, i.e. rain, but I do have it on good authority that there is a ready supply of pies and pasties from Gregg's.

Though it may be profane, you know it is good.

I think if it was westbound he'd have said it was between 19 and 18...  it is actually tempting, but I've been told about a show up here in the Lakes that I haven't sampled yet, so that's more likely where I'll be.

Unfortunately we do not have Thomas's products around here; if we did I would happily support them. Sadly there are very few independant bakers in the locality.

Eastbound services I presume...

Correct, I think that will be convenient for most people.

Sounds smashing. Got visitors that weekend but if they have left I will pop down.

Perhaps in the bus:-)

Mr Gelder (Austin-Rover of this parish) will be at Gaydon; Dr Smith (myself) will be at Cars In The Park at Lichfield.

(No idea re: Messrs Hough & Robinson and their intentions this day.)

Not far from chez Ghosty - I'd appear if I had a car, you can't ride bikes on the motorway.

There is a 'service road' (ie a back road) into the eastbound services from Whittle Lane ;) .

Whether there is a barrier or not I don't know (there wasn't 25 years ago *ahem*), but it might be do-able on foot...

Not that far from me however I shall be at CamperJam flogging my wares to the pineappleistas.

Hope it goes well. If you are staying there a while don't get caught out by being parked there over two hours as it gets expensive.

Anyone going to answer my question about the parking? It gets frigging expensive if you stay at Birch for more than two hours.

You could always decamp to the Westbound side after two hours? Then back to the Eastbound two hours after that, if you've not had enough? A quick Google says you'll have to cough up £12.50 if you're there over 2 hours. I should imagine this'll be policed by camera these days. The access road from Whittle Lane has had a barrier fitted for many years, so no back door access to the services.

I'll be at the BMC/BL show at Gaydon on Sunday (where the car park will be full of cars worth looking at - not just one or two ;-) )

Do tell, because the Lakes (or Southern bit) is where I shall be on the 5th

plenty of places you could stop between rochdale and halifax in the wilds and you wouldnt see another soul :D

^ it's also a fantastic road, and one I'll be driving home on if I ever get fuckin unloaded at Rochdale

It isn't really the southern bit... it's at Distington, up the coast.  Assuming the Saab is back from the cosmetic work, I think this should be an ideal debut for it.

Bloody miles away from civilisation that Eddy. There is the autojumble at Garstang the weekend after.

19th is Tram Sunday, then its Flookborough.

Apologies, Jon. I can't see myself staying there for longer than two hours. Presumably other folk will also want to be off and enjoy the afternoon?
