Sorry lol I wonder if it has ever been this far north.

It was in the Wickford area I'll check the address later. The guy I bought it of (the owners Grandson) lives in Latchingdon. I think recently it was only used for going to the shops and has been off the road for six months.

You probably did pass me, we were on the 11:35 from Liverpool Street.

My train pulled into Liverpool St at 11.30, probably walked past you!

The 309 is on local plates and appears to have Currie Motors number plates which was the local Peugeot dealer in the 80s in Southend.

Wow! A rev counter? Who do you think you are? The Queen?

Only the highest dignitaries in the land got a rev counter on a 309. Even Simon Weston only got one with a clock there despite all of his tireless charity work.

The rest of us mere mortals just had a picture of a lion there, a constant reminder that we had failed at life.

You are my hero right now.

Yes I have just found a Currie Motors keyring amongst all the bumph I got with the car. I will use it with pride. We used to have Currie motors in the Midlands I am sure they were a Ford dealers! I will investiage!

We probably did walk past each other.

Maybe we should have "Autoshite Collection" badges when we are on such missions!

I taxed the car yesterday afternoon in the post office at Burnham on Crouch for which I have the receipt, however I have just checked online and it is showing as untaxed. Surely the computer would update straight away?!

Takes a few days for the system to update. You have the receipt so it is fine.

No it doesn't.

Oh okay thanks. When I taxed the Montego as a new keeper it was showing as taxed within a few minutes.

I assumed it would  as surely they do it online just the same as I would do!

To be honest the electrons from the Burnham On Crouch Post Office telegraphy system are probably making their way down the line as quickly as they can.

We have fibre-optic broadband now in our part of Essex, but the tubes have to be bigger to accommodate our pre-decimal grains of light.

Haha I guess that true!

We passed one or two police vehicles on the way home and they didn't chase me. The only worry is that I must have passed several ANPR cameras so I may end up getting a snotty letter from the DVLA. I can imagine they don't take kindly to admitting they are wrong!

I may ring them on Monday if it is still showing as untaxed in the morning just to confirm it is taxed and I have the proof!

I like the 309 on the headlamp protectors.....Calligraphy in action.

Oooh! Pre-facelift! Sort the earthing out and the rear wiper might even work. They have a perfectly* designed system that uses the gas struts as the earth...

Yes its a bit intermittent! It seems okay if you keep the button held in!

Posted

That rear wiper arm looks wrong but it's not is it?

Posted

The rear wiper should park upright.

Posted

Ah okay, I will go and rectify it, I didn't think it looked quite right!

Thanks all for spotting.

Velcro (male + female) doubled up holds them "approximately" in place (a single lot of velcro isn't long enough for the one with the clock [which unscrews ready for fitting to the new one ;) ] )... Blu Tac just 'runs' and the things drop out when the sun shines (don't ask ;) )... Dean at "Peugeot Parts" near Castleford provided me with spares - at a price!

Anyway, good to see a phase 1 309GR; you're a member of THE ELITE on here now :) . My phase 1 309SR just clocked 60k, and just keeps going on and on and on most enjoyably :D .
