Panda Rescue with added twist -

I've not sampled a Euro5 1.2 but I've driven a Punto Evo 1.4 and Panda 1.1 and they're exactly what a Fiat shouldn't be - lethargic, unwilling to rev and feel slow! I'm not sure what was worse, the 1.1 which had absolutely no go no matter how much you hammered it or the 1.4 which was like a bad 80s turbo. Made my Rio feel sporty.

Fucking Italian Recalcitrant Engine

Where's Mr Lampredi when you need him.

Mind you, Fiat and Chrysler have joined forces..... That thing got a Hemi?

We've got one, a 54 plate 1.2 we stole after renting one on holiday and really liking them. Been a great little motor, dead easy to service and good fun.

FIFY :)

My old man has a habit of chopping in his cars after about a year, saying he's bored with it. I told him to look at Panda 100HPs.

He's had it 18 months, loves it to bits and said he'll only sell it to get another one.

Any updates on this Stephen???

parked up outside today and bottled it, It looks like an older persons house, and I don't want to upset anyone, I've had people ask me if my herald is for sale and for days after I worry it's going to be lifted!

I'll give it another go later armed with a letter and my house number.

Oh yeah, 100hps! I can add those to the list of little cars to buy, after my aborted attempt four years ago to get one nearly new.

Right so that didn't go to plan, parked up in the electric car, nice clean clobber on, shaved, so I didn't look like someone dragged from the street. lets do some role play

knock knock,

someone coming - opens door

me 'hello, don't worry I'm not trying to sell anything, I've noticed the panda on the front and was wondering if you'd ever be interested in selling it?'

Lady* if it was for sale there would be a sign in the window, I'm sick of people asking if it's for sale, now go away you..

me ' not to worry sorry to disturb you, thanks goodbye'

lady mumbles closes door.

I don't think she was expecting me to be polite as I was, after her words, which were said with venom, never mind. If she Is getting lots of people asking about the car I can see that it would be a pain in the arse, still no need to be rude, or she could do the opposite and put a sign in the window that says 'NOT FOR SALE'

I must admit to being pretty hostile towards people who knock the door asking about stuff on the driveway.

I'm always deeply suspicious and expect to be woken in the early hours by the sound of a hiab for the next few days.

For all you know the last people to knock might have offered a hundtert quid and a dag.

well it was worth a try, but I suspect there is a back-story to it possibly the driver has popped his clogs and the family want to keep it as a shrine rotting reminder.

I always wondered what the story was with these

The bungalow was lived in, but both cars stopped being used in1988, gradually deteriorating until after over 20 years they finally went.

Who knows what the stories behind these cars is.

Chances are most of them have a Car SOS style sob story behind them.

illness, bereavement, financial hardship.

Knocking on the door could be stirring up ghosts.

Our in my case I don't like being reminded that I've got cars out there I've done nothing with for years.

I fully agree, I've had people knock on my door asking about my herald, but I'm never rude to people, especially nicely dressed people :) I fully expect this to be here for the next 5 years until its to far gone and then scrapped for 50 quid, and I know it's not about money for 99% of people but if she'd have asked she would have know I want it for the wife and would love it for many many years to come.

The way she's acting does point to husband snuffed it, car laid up, and tbh, by now it will probably be kippered, and to sort all it's problems would more than likely be twice the price of a mintola one, esp with Fiat's insane prices for parts these days

I could have sold you one of mine, with history and an MOT and delivered it. Fiat forum always has a few in the classifieds, if you buy from members they will be as described. How much BTW?

Not been on FF for years, in fact not had a fiat for years!

What type of money is a decent panda fetching nowadays? This has only set me back 100 quid, so prob £200 by the time I've collected it. Just need to find somewhere to store the bleeding thing now.
