What, at 5pm? That's a stupid time to start.

So actually I started at 7.30 this morning, by getting a lift to work from Mrs_Pillock which enabled me to frolic in the West Midlands unencumbered by a vehicle, which is a great idea when you're getting another one. Saves some sort of rollerskate car action.

Highlight of the first part then is probably getting a Friday Burger when I went to the bank to get some car funds.

Here is burger.

Outside the burger joint was this

Update to come....

More details on the burger.

You could tell more about the car.

Big John is the purveyor of fine meat products.

Anyway, stage 2 got underway after I'd finished that pesky work thing. I'd planned to walk to the station, about two miles, but when I left there were two girls I'd been training just getting into a cab. Which they were going to claim back. Free taxi!

So stage two was courtesy of this Renault Sceni

Which dumped me here.

Which has both green seats and what appears to be a poo in a bag

It offered beautiful views over rolling countryside.

Does the bag on the train floor have any connection to Big John?

Big John is the purveyor of fine meat products.

I hope that isn't a euphemism.

Especially for the two girls in the taxi.

Because public transport. Because listening to endless recorded and distinctly impersonal recorded announcements about how very sorry they are that the train is late.

Plus I'm really early so I'm just sort of dragging my heels.

Are there any more pictures of that double hamburger?

That looks like one tasty burger.

Just in time to cream my knick-knacks over this motherload of shite

It's excellent so far, I went to watch the new Mad Max film last weekend and this thread is very similar - not too difficult to follow the plot.

This has less explosions, but the film and this thread will probably converge when there's an insane bloke laying on the bonnet spitting petrol into the air intake.

Can't imagine Mad Max featuring poo bag and a burger.

I do like a happy ending so will be refreshing the page often.

Dudley port is a classy part of the world

Have you checked that Hi-Ace inside properly to make sure no junkies have passed out in it?

Or any daytime hookers using it as an `office` maybe?

Writing on paper was done. Prodding too. Positive noises were emitted. A car was bought. And fuelled.

This thing is quick enough! Not silly quick, but fast enough to make you forget the speedo shouldn't really go into that bit.

Did you remember to take all of your possessions with you as you left the train?

It's always the right season for a good hamburger. Their paratha rolls are lush too, 99p.

Oh, the car.

Home now, it may be "the right season" but I'm still waiting to get feeling back in my fingers. Being longer than the F, and having no deflector means lots more draughty coldness. At 85mph. On my bit of private test track that goes past Fort Dunlop.

It's a bit scuttley as I was warned, but it's also nicely quick, very solid and seems not to have many issues at all. Washer jet, electric mirrors don't work, replace key fob battery is about it.

Thanks Stephennumbers for the easy purchase and being lovely. Reminds me why I don't like eBay when it can be so simples to buy from here.

Why is the speedogram only illuminated up to 90 miles an hour?

Posted

Because it's in stealth mode. Ssshhhhh.

Is it? It also drops the rev counter to zero, and sometimes (but not always) zeroes the temp and fuel gauges too. I can't say I've ever been bothered by illumination at night, but perhaps once I've tried this I'll never go back.

Maybe the aim is to light the rest of it up by making the speedo needle point to the numbers, kind of like a licence loosing price is right

Oh yeah, it's definitely a SAAB thing like the key by the gear lever. I do think it's cool, just not convinced it's useful :-)
